schedule
i was having this debate earlier w/ Gennie about who has the better schedule. she feels that her 8am-12am classes mon-thurs are better than my 935-515 (w/ a break from 205-355) tues/thurs classes. i on the other hand tend to disagree...cuz of a couple of reasons...1. 8am class, enough said! 2. only 1 day off in the week compared to my 3 days (and weekends). 3. she has 4 straight classes. although i am usually exhausted at the end of the day tuesday and thursday and i do agree that finishing before lunch is a good thing, there is no way that finishing before lunch and 8am classes can beat having 3 days off in the week...u can keep your schedule gennie, i'll keep mine. speaking of which, i had better get to sleep cuz my long day is tomorrow, so for now...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

mlife
ok...so i clicked on their website, and it seems to be working now...but it wasnt working during the game...how strange.
Superbowl XXXVI!!!
congrats to the New England Patriots for winning the superbowl. it was a pretty cool game, and at the end it was pretty close, until the Patriots scored in the last play w/ a field goal. all in all, a good game. the commercials were also pretty good. the britney spears one was pretty decent...now i want a pepsi (not really)...speaking of which, i had my first soda in 6 months today, it wasnt that great, so i think i'm gonna go back to not drinking soda any more. continuing on on my commercial discussion...for some reason i really liked the yahoo commercial w/ the dolphin that talked...and the budweiser one where he slips off of the bed and out of the house, those were pretty cool. i was curious about one thing though...what is that mlife thing? i went to their website, and it was closed...way to go, advertise a website that doesnt even work...nice way to spend a million bucks for every 30 seconds. and the commercials didnt really explain what it is. well if anybody knows what it is, it would be greatly appreciated if you would share that knowledge with me. so with that said, i shall go on a commercial break...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Take the Final Fantasy X personality test here!

yeah yeah..i'm bored, so i'm taking these personality test things...pretty cool, cuz i get some cool graphics for my blog for once. go take some of these tests, and lemme know the results.

What Video Game Character Are You? I am Kung Fu Master.I am Kung Fu Master.

I like to be in control of myself. I dislike crowds, especially crowds containing people trying to kill me. Even though I always win, I prefer to avoid fights if possible. What Video Game Character Are You?

hmm...well, i do like to be in control of myself, but i dont think i dislike crowds...well maybe those "let's kill jeff" crowds. haha. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

busy week
lotsa things happening scholastically this week. asian american lit paper due tuesday, children and the media project/paper due tuesday, HDP 110 reaction paper due tuesday, HDP 110 midterm on thursday, various readings for all my classes all week. let's just hope that my brain doesnt explode this week. well, if Reggie can do it 7 days a week, i guess i can do it for a few days. ok, back to my work...I SHOULD BE OUT PARTYING, or at least out having fun somewhere!!! stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =/
The Debut Review
and so, as planned i saw The Debut, and i must say that i really liked that movie. i'm not gonna say too much about it other than it is so worth the $7.50 that i paid in advance online, and the drive down south, because i don't wanna give it away for those of you who haven't seen it yet. good thing i bought my ticket in advance online, cuz it sold out early. its also good to support this movie, since its the first filipino created, produced, and directed movie with filipinos in the starring roles, and its success would mean future filipino big screen movies...so i highly encourage everybody to watch this movie. so just in case you were wondering, i give this movie a rating of 9.5 boba balls (out of 10). i mean, it didnt have any special effects like The Matrix, but it did have a good storyline, and she was in it...haha..remind me to post my pic that i took with her in november...too bad she wasnt at the theatre tonight...but Bernadette Balagtas (Rose) was there, and she signed my ticket stub. along to enjoy the show with me were Ronnel, Anthony, Lauren, and Kim...so all in all, not a bad night. well, i'm tired...so i shall sleep now. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

The Debut of The Debut
The Debut is officially coming out in San Diego tomorrow. i'm catching the 1020 showing @ AMC Palm Promenade down south...sucks that they had to cancel the showing @ AMC Mission Valley since thats much closer, and the theatre that i usually go to, but whatever's clever...gotta do my part to support, so i guess travelling down south will be worth it...well that and the chance to see her again...haha too bad she has a bf. look at me...i sound like crazy Gee and her obsession with NSTINK...but im not as bad as her. =)

carzy Nem thinks i wanna wear her shirt, but she really has it backwards...she wants to wear my shirt, but i wont let her, cuz i'm using it right now...haha =รพ well i'm gonna go finish up watching Family Ties on nick at nite and then head to sleep since i have work tomorrow. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

testing something
i'm trying something that Gennie suggested on her site...just to see if it works. she suggested that i type in the words "Regis and Kelly" just to see if random people hit up my page...so here it is, Regis and Kelly. and just in case you're wondering, i'm not desperate for hits, i just wanna see if this works....yeah yeah, i should be doing something more productive (like sleeping or studying) instead of this crazy test. i think i shall put myself to productive use, and go to sleep, since i do have 4 classes tomorrow =/...nite all...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

lost
costa verde is a very evil place, especially the garages! haha...while we were on our way to Ian's place for a talent show meeting, Brian, Moneek, and i got lost cuz we just had to park in the garage. if we had actually followed ian's directions, we prolly wouldnt have gotten lost. oh well...at least we had an adventure in costa verde...fun stuff. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

friends
since this is my forum, i decided that i needed to discuss something thats been bothering me...if this offends people somehow, well i guess thats the way things have to be, this is how i feel right now. no names will be mentioned...but feel free to comment.

sometimes i wonder who are my real friends. thats what i have been thinking about all weekend. people who i thought have been good friends have lately been making me question whether or not they really are good friends. certain conversations ive had with certain people in APSA last week really got me thinking about this. when someone you think is a friend is going away for awhile and has a little get together to say goodbye, wouldnt you think they would invite everyone they consider a friend, including you? but then you could say that maybe they had no way of contacting you. but what if you were one of the easiest persons to get a hold of? what then? another question to ponder...wouldnt you think that other friends who know about said "get together" would talk about it openly around you instead of playing it off like its someone you dont know? or would they ask you something like "are you invited?" as if theyre surprised that you know about it? these types of things would make it seem like you're not allowed to say goodbye. with that said, i missed my opportunity to say goodbye to a friend of mine (or at least someone who i had considered a friend...but what does she consider me?) this weekend. the above said circumstances came into play last week, and as a result, i didnt feel like i was welcome to say goodbye. sound stupid? well, to me it wasnt. sometimes i feel like people who i just barely met have been better friends lately than people who i have known all throughout college. this isnt to say that im walking away from any friendships, or that other people have walked away from their friendship with me. im just questioning how they view their friendships with me, or if they value their friendships with me as i value my friendships with them. putting it in simpler terms..am i wasting my time in being their friend? i hope not. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

hands
my poor hands are all messed up...my work (for now) is having us put together computers...and the computer parts have sharp edges, so that mixed w/ the small spaces of a computer case, and the number of computers that ive had to put together (no i'm not a computer nerd, i just know how to put em together) means a lot of cuts on my hands. thats your haloHalo for the day...now it's time for me to rest up for the 4 classes that i have for tomorrow. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Robitussin works wonders
i'm feeling a bit better thanks to my special friend that i picked up at vons...robitussin you perves!!! well, the generic version of it...but it's doing pretty well in making me feel better. i am still feeling a bit sick, but not as bad as i was feeling yesterday, or even this morning...it coulda been the naps that i took in my 4 classes today, but at least im not quite as sniffly as i was before.

quote of the day: "She has a hurty boobie" -Armando talking about Jayne-Kim to the remaining APSA heads left @ the CCC after the meeting.

The Debut
anybody down to seeing The Debut with me? it's coming to San Diego on January 25th...and i really wanna see it. i can't wait, especially since i've heard good reviews from friends who have seen it. this site even says that she's gonna be at the premiere. i got a picture w/ her, and played red light, green light with her when her theatre group hereandnow was here for APSA's high school conference in November. now all i gotta do is develop those pictures. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

am i crazy?
try this...3 back to back to back 1hr 20 min classes, then have a 1 1/2 hr break, then have another 1hr 20 min class. do u know how draining that is? i do...and i did just that today...and i do that every tuesday and thursday. and did i mention that theyre all upper division classes? well they are...including HDP 110, which i added to fill in for ANLD 2, which i dropped...i told ya i would...in addition to that, im taking asian american literature, children and the media, and adolescent literature. and these classes have a lot of reading...and i do mean a lot. i just hope my brain doesnt explode! well to answer my question that i asked at the beginning...i may be crazy, but at least i only go to school on tuesdays and thursdays =รพ...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

1st day of class
1 lecture down, 19 more to go. today was my first day of class...a very interesting day. after today, i've come to the conclusion that i like 3 of my 4 classes. the class that i dont like, and am seriously thinking of dropping is ANLD2 (Anthropology)... mainly because it doesnt seem too interesting to me, and i can take another class instead next quarter. also, i dont know anybody else in the class, which isnt a good thing, especially if i decide that i dont wanna go to class one day...i wont know anyone to take notes for me, a bad thing especially since the midterm and final are based on lectures. normally that wouldnt stop me...i would just try to get to know people around me and hopefully get notes from them...but it's kinda hard to do that since i have classes right before and right after this class, so i dont really have any time to get to know anyone before or after class...and obviously i cant get to know them during class. so, chances are that i'm going to drop this class. it will drop me down to 12 units, but oh well, i'm still full time. ah well...time to sleep, no class tomorrow, but i gotta take my car in tomorrow to get the door fixed >=0. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

and the news keeps getting better
guess who doesnt have a job anymore. well if u didnt guess yet...it's me. yup, i just found out that all the student workers got the boot today. seems that they dont have anymore money in the budget to pay us. kinda sucks too, cuz i really need this job...and i dont have time to be looking for another job. what a way to start a new year and a new quarter...without a job. happy new year to me. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =(
all good things must come to an end
whoever said that musta been a party pooper. with that said...i am sad to report that my vacation has come to an end. although it doesnt officially come to an end until tuesday when i start class (i have mondays and fridays off), i do however get to go back to work tomorrow...yay. well...what did i do to end this mostly uneventful break you might ask? well i left the country. haha...i went to tj last night w/ Ronnel and Mark, and others...although i have been to tj before, this was my first nighttime excursion to tj. i must say that it was a lot of fun, although i smelled like cigarettes by the time i got back home (7am this morning). its weird being on the freeway at that hour, just cuz the sun is rising, and everything is colored differently (and no it wasn't the alcohol, i was sober way before i crossed back over)...im just starting to notice skylines a whole lot more, just cuz i think its pretty cool to look at when the sun is at that right position where it's awestriking. ah well...enough babbling on...i gotta get some sleep...i have work tomorrow =/. well, actually i'm gonna finish watching Family Ties w/ Nem...if she ever finds her "channel clicker", and then sleep. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

another day
nothing much really has been happening, just been pretty boring...which kinda sucks cuz this should be time to be doing a whole bunch of fun stuff since school starts this monday (tuesday for me =)). i was kicked out of my house today though...not cuz i was in trouble, but because my complex is getting remodeled, and so they were recoating the entrance way. so it was either get out @ 8am in the morning, or be stuck here til 5 in the afternoon, and i didnt wanna get stranded here. so i got my bum outta bed @ 740ish, showered, and went to Joan's house and chilled there. i went to Ronnel's pad when she had to go to work. on my way home, i saw my reoccuring high school crush Liza outside her house (her house is on my way home from la jolla)...i pulled over for a bit, and we talked for a bit (i still have a crush on her everytime i see her). dropped by starbucks, then came home and started cleaning the other half of my room which i got too lazy to do earlier in the week (i still didnt finish...there's a bunch of papers and stuff on my floor). went to Friday's and ate w/ joan. that was my day...i lead an interesting life. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

tuition & work
i seriously hope i am not screwed. you see, my college tuition is paid for by the VA, since my dad is retired from the navy. but the only catch is that i can't make more than the national poverty level. the whole entire time i had been looking at my net amount that i have made in 2001 (social security & taxes taken out of my income), and it seemed like i was coming in under the limit. but then some people got me thinking that what they look at is the total amount of my income (without taxes and social security taken out)...if that's true, then i'm seriously screwed for next year..cuz i barely passed the level...meaning my calvet could be revoked for my 4th year. i seriously hope that this isnt the case. i really wish i knew which column on my paystub that i should have been looking at, cuz if i had known, then i wouldnt be having this problem. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

Another Night at the Movies
i went to the movies today w/ Alexis, one of my students from summer bridge. we had been planning to hang out for awhile now, and today was our day. so i picked her up, and we headed to Fashion Valley to see what was playing there. we ran into Kris, another one of my students, while we were looking at what was playing. we decided to watch Ocean's Eleven, and we bought our tickets. since we had about another 2 hours til the movie started, we went to grab something to eat @ Sam Woo. after we ate, we headed back to watch the movie. funny thing happened...the film broke apart right in the middle...even funnier was that it broke apart right as they were blowing something up in the movie. well, after about 20 minutes, they fixed the film, and the movie was up and running. at the end of the movie, they gave us a free pass to see any movie we wanna watch in the future.

now comes my review...this movie was basically about some guys who are plotting to rob a vault common to 3 casinos in las vegas (pretty ironic considering i just came from there). this movie goes about tracking what they plan to do, and how they carry it out. it had a lot of big time hollywood stars, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and for you Mayrin, that one dude who plays Pacey in Dawson's Creek. my mentee Maribeth recommended this movie to me, and she didnt disappoint me. i really liked this movie...it just kinda sucked how i couldnt watch the entire movie from beginning to end (since it tore up right in the middle)...but i would definitely watch this movie again. my rating...9 boba balls (out of 10).

well...i should go to sleep now, since i have to take my car in for servicing and to get my door handle and lock replaced at 830, so for now i bid all adieu...stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Best Friends
i would have to say that Chie has to be the bestest friend a guy can have. remember how someone tried to break into my car yesterday while it was parked in front of her house? well, she felt really bad about it happening. i had told her that she didnt need to worry about it...cuz it wasnt her fault. but despite my assurances to her, she still felt bad. so today, she called me on my cell to tell me that she was gonna drop by to give me something. about an hour later, she called me to tell me that she was out front. so i went and met her, and she gave me a $10 gift certificate to Jamba Juice to help me feel better. that really made my day (and my year so far)...not that she got me a jamba juice certificate, but that she got them to make me feel better. i am so lucky to have a best friend like her =)

people these days
i swear...some people have no lives. i went to lunch w/ my best friend Chie today. i went over to her house and gave her gift to her, and then we went to Pat & Oscar's for lunch in her car. so since she drove, i left my car in front of her house. well, when we got back, we noticed that the lock and door handle on the passenger side of my car had been broken. somebody had actually tried to break into my car!!! i just got my car back, and now someone tries to break into it? nothing was taken, and my car was still there, but still!!! i know theyre jealous cuz i'm driving a decent looking car and theyre prolly stuck driving some broken down POS, but that doesnt mean that they should break into my car. whoever does this needs to get a life and go out and get a job and buy them a nice car of their own. what a way to end this year!!! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages >=/

my my barona has my my money
well...since i was unable to gamble while i was in las vegas, i had this silly notion that i wanted to go gambling. so last night, Ronnel, his family, and i went to Barona casino. haha, that was a big mistake...i pretty much lost all the money that was in my wallet. let's just say...a fool and his money are soon parted, and guess who was the fool =/. i vow not to gamble again...well at least until the next time i go to barona, and the occasional lotto tickets =รพ...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)
vegas vacation
and so my vegas vacation started last friday when we left san diego kinda late in the evening. we got to vegas around 1am on saturday morning and checked into the MGM Grand...pretty nice room we got...well, im still a bit too lazy to detail exactly what i did the whole week that i was there, so im just gonna list the (somewhat) more interesting things happened.

saturday
met up w/ brother and his family @ IHOP...my dad and them went to my nephew's basketball tournament
i went to my mom's house to help unpack for a bit
went back to the hotel and just chilled
sunday
went christmas shopping @ the Boulevard Mall...(note to David, this mall doesnt have a food court, but does have several affordable places to buy food.)
went to rio to eat at the buffet, but the line was too long, so went to palace station for their buffet
took my dad to see my mom's house
went to my brother's house, and played ps2 for a bit...my sister was there, which was a big surprise
monday...Christmas Eve
went last minute shopping
went to my moms house again while my dad played
picked up dad, and my brother, then went to brother's house, where my sister was still there (we thought she wasnt gonna stay longer than a day)
tuesday...Christmas Day
went to church
went to brother's house...had christmas lunch, and opened gifts
went to mom's house...had christmas dinner, and opened more gifts
spent the night at mom's house
watched Jurassic Park 3
wednesday
helped around the house as the cable guy and phone guy came to put in jacks
went to the mall to return gifts that did not fit
ate at the best thai restaurant in Las Vegas...The Kumol Kitchen
picked up aunt from airport
went back to hotel and chilled...we were supposed to go to my brother's house, but he was knocked out by the time i was free
thursday
went to eat at the new Green Valley Stationbuffet w/ my mom, dad, and aunt...mighty tasty might i say.
went to my brother's house one last time
friday
headed home
went to canes after i got home w/ Ronnel, Anthony, , and Mark...it ended too early, which sucked, especially since we paid $15 to get in =/

so that was my week in vegas...pretty interesting eh? too bad im not 21...cuz at times it sucked...but at least i was outta san diego...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

I'm Baaaaaaack!!!
i just got back from las vegas today. we stayed a day longer than i expected to stay...but it was cool (despite the pre-21 syndrome). i'll blog about my time later...but im too lazy to put down a long blog about what happened. so i'll just end here w/ a quote that i heard on the radio on the way back home...it cracked me up for some reason...

"I asked Santa for an X-Box for Christmas...and all i got was a Box with an X on it." -99.1 FM commercial

rebuttal
well it seems that i have some opposing opinions (well just 1 for now) about my review for Southcoast Plaza and the rating that i gave it. if you read David's blog, he responds to what i wrote about "his" mall. well, all i have to say about that is we all have differing opinions about what constitutes a good mall, and one of my criteria is that it has to have a good food court. one could argue that this is a high quality mall filled w/ high quality stores...but c'mon now, walking all day around a mall that huge would make anybody hungry, and i dunno bout anybody else, but i would rather spend my money in those stores than shell out a pretty penny to dine at one of those sit-down restaurants. when it comes to malls, if i get hungry, im satisfied eating a hot dog on a stick or some sort of pseudo-chinese food. although this mall does have a mcdonalds and a del taco, it lacks the choices that one would normally get from the traditional food court. so in conclusion...i shall say, you can have a mall with all the stores that you would want, but without a food court, it aint nothing. =)

well, this should be my last blog til after christmas, since leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow (today) to spend the holiday...woohoo, nothing for me to do there yet (6 1/2 months left). i shall return next thursday, so while i'm gone, make me happy and sign my guestbook =). merry christmas to all and to all a good night...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

orange county
since Aldrin, would rather blog than play me yahoo pool, i guess i'll just have to update this thing just a bit. i can't believe that i've actually been updating this thing on a semi-daily basis...enjoy it while it lasts.

so what did i do today...you may ask? well...i went to orange county with Ronnel to pick up some stuff for his car, do a lil bit of shopping, and visit some friends. the drive up there wasnt too bad (we made it there in under 2 hours), although there was this new Chevy SUV (it had paper plates) that was somehow spewing oil all over the freeway, getting on the car. well, we first went to fountain valley to pick up his car parts, and then headed to SouthCoast Plaza, supposedly the biggest shopping mall in California. well, i'll give it to them...it is huge, and there are a lot of stores there...but other than that, it wasn't all that great, due to the fact that there is no food court!!! i mean, why design "the largest mall" in California, and not put in a Food Court??? there are restaurants there, and a mcdonalds & del taco...but the restaurants are a bit pricey, and we had mcdonalds before driving up, and didnt feel like del taco...so we just grabbed some ice cream @ hagen daz. so if i were to rate this mall, i would give it 6 boba balls (out of 10)...hahaha...lost some boba due to the lack of a food court. while we were there, we visited David, as he started his first day working at Banana Republic, and then we left.

ronnel wanted to find Little Saigon so that he could buy some trance CDs. after driving around for almost an hour, we finally found it. after that, we headed over to irvine to pick up my high school friend Jen. after 3 years, i finally saw her home away from home in irvine, and i should say that it's a pretty nice place to live. after that, the 3 of us headed back over to little saigon to eat at a vietnamese restaurant, and then dropped jen back off in irvine. we were about to pull out of her complex, when jen called back to say that Rachelle was home. now rachelle was another hs buddy who i hadnt seen in a long time, so i told ronnel to turn around so i could go say hi to her, and talk with her for a bit. after we did that, we began our trek back to san diego. all in all, i'd say it was a pretty good day. good friends, good food, good music...what else do u need? a food court...haha...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

fruitcakes
since christmas is fast approaching (and Karen was bored enough to send this story to me from ABC at 345 in the morning), i thought i might post a lil bit of this story for your reading pleasure...

And even though it may be detested by many, the fruitcake holds many advantages over other baked varieties. All those pieces of dried fruit act like sentries — grabbing water molecules that might otherwise escape by evaporation.

Fruitcake also has high sugar content and since sugar is highly acidic, it blocks or weakens any invading bacteria that might try to form moldy layers. If the cake is spiked with brandy, all the better, since alcohol is also highly acidic and also an effective preservative.

Some even argue an old fruitcake ages and improves like a good wine over time. Barham explains the tannins inside the fruit (which are also part of the aging process of wine) eke out and mix chemically with the rest of the cake, creating new flavor compounds.

These flavor compounds, he says, become more intense and varied with time — and are all the more reason to pull that ancient fruitcake out of the freezer and reheat it.

Or ... give it to someone else.

although the thought is nice (i think), i hope i dont get any fruitcake for christmas...so for those of you reading this, dont get any ideas about getting me fruitcake for christmas, or else u know what you'll be getting next christmas...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)
potlucks
today we had a potluck at work, which was pretty good. what was even better was what i brought to the potluck...homemade lemon bars, from scratch. that was the first time i had ever made a dessert that did not come from a box....haha, i'm just a male version of martha stewart..yeah right, like that would actually happen. but i did really make lemon bars from scratch, and they turned out pretty good, and was popular amongst my coworkers, which was a good thing. today also marked the last day for me at work this year. i cant work anymore this year since i am quickly approaching the national poverty level, which is the limit of income that i can make for calvet. if i make more than the amount, guess who will be funding my college education? i'll give u a hint, it wont be the government. so i figure, i had better quit while i'm ahead, and just chill for the rest of the year.

other than the potluck, i just did a bit of shopping @ UTC, and then just headed home. for the most part, today was just a chill day, nothing all that spectacular happened. hopefully tomorrow will be better, since Ronnel and i will be heading to orange county to pick up some stuff, visit people, and do some christmas shopping. dont i just lead an intersting life? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

jeff at the movies
alright...it's time for something new for my blog site, a movie review. tonight, i went to amc fashion valley w/ Melissa to watch Not Another Teen Movie. this movie is to teen movies as Scary Movie is to scary movies (oh yeah...now i sound like a critic). this movie spoofed teen movies such as Pretty in Pink, Can't Hardly Wait, She's All That, Bring It On, American Pie, 10 Things I Hate About You and any other teen movie you can think of. it was funny, yet at the same time it seemed at times to try really hard to spoof specific scenes from these movies. so in effect, some scenes that were supposed to generate a laugh ended up not really being all that funny. i dont really wanna give away the plot of the movie, cuz some of you may wanna see it (if you really wanna know, go see it...or just think up all the teen movies that you have ever seen). but i will go as far as to say that i wouldnt pay to see it again. i would give this movie a rating of 4 boba balls (out of 10). keep checkin back here for ratings about upcoming (or already released) movies, and see if i give it the "Jeff seal of approval."

haha...look out Ebert, i'm now rating movies. i dont really like those paid movie critics...cuz they usually dont like the movies that end up being movies that i like. i refuse to let some fat, overpaid critic tell me whether i should or shouldnt watch a movie. i'll watch a movie whenever i feel like it...haha. so for any of you reading this, i'm not telling you wheter or not u should see this movie, i'm just expressing my opinions of it. feel free to agree or disagree with it. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

bored of boredom
i thought that i would never say this...but i wanna go back to school....hahaha, yeah right!!! i am sooooo enjoying my time off right now...well except for that one incident that happened on monday night. i dont really wanna talk about it, cuz that might make me feel not as good as im feeling right now. but i will say that i get my car back next tuesday or wednesday, so im looking forward to that. although the car that i got is somewhat pretty cool. it's a suzuki grand vitara, which is fun to drive, even though it drinks gas like its water. last quarter has been pretty good to me so far, i've gotten 2 of my 3 grades, and i am pretty satisfied with them, except 1 grade was slightly lower than i expected, but all in all, im pretty happy with my grades so far. so now, i'm just looking forward to spending some time with friends and family during the rest of the break. hopefully there are some adventures to come for the rest of the break. i know that i will be going to las vegas during christmas, but thats with family, and i can't really do anything there cuz im 7 months under the legal limit to do anything. speaking of which, my birthday is exactly 6 months and 29 days away, so gift ideas should be entertained for the big 2-1 =). well, other than that, i wanna have some adventures with some friends and do fun stuff that i can actually do during break. so hopefully, there will be some mini road-trips ahead (must get out of san diego...must get out of san diego!!!) stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

that time again
well, now that finals week has come back to haunt us, i think it's time to repost something that i posted last time finals week showed its ugly face...this was posted on 6/9/01...

Levels of finals anxiety...by Stephanie Aguon
level 1-"ha..i have finals"
level 2-"hmm...i should study..."
level 3-"they're not gonna be that bad..."
level 4-"shit, I have finals"
level 5-"I'm gonna get crapped on!"

at this point...i think im somewhere between 1 and 2...but that's subject to change as the week wears on.
my first final is tomorrow from 3-6, and i feel prepared since i spent like 15 hours at OASIS this weekend studying statistics w/ Rea, and like a few more hours studying on my own...we better ace that thing, especially since it's open note, open book...too bad the other finals aren't like that...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

not as bad as i thought
well...i took an ochem midterm the tuesday before thanksgiving...and i left with a feeling that i flat out bombed it...which got me thinking that i need to crack the books some more...i felt like the next 2 weeks were gonna be pure hell, especially since ochem is gonna be my last final, and i would have to pretty much ace it to get at least a B in the class. well, yesterday i got my midterm back, and not to my surprise, i bombed it...but to my surprise, so did the rest of the class. the mean on the test was 65 out of 150, i got 67...and according to my professor (who curved the mean to a B-), i got a B-!!! i seriously lucked out there...and that relieved a lot of stress. but that's not to say that i'm gonna slack off studying...i still got 50% of a grade to earn for that class on the final...wish me luck!

in other news, Kaibigang Pilipino had the revealing of secret pals tonight. i had some guy named Chad who i had never met before. well, all i had gotten him up until the big surprise was 2 king-sized snickers bars. well, tonight i got him a new backpack (he asked for it, and then said not to get it...so what was i to do?) and inside of it, there was some unagi (eel sushi)...and he turned out to like the stuff i got him, which was good. my secret pal turned out to be Cyrus. the past 2 days he got me 2 bite-sized snickers, and wiper fluid for my car. today he got me this huge box stuffed w/ newspaper and a small pack of candy, and then he got me the real gift, which turned out to be fuzzy dice for my car, and a shot glass. he had me fooled for a bit, getting me to think that all he got me was a box full of newspaper. haha...thanks cyrus (if u ever read this)...ah well...time to sleep....stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

10th week
this past weekend was pretty cool...even though i did absolutely nothing but sit around on my bum...and then reality hit...10th week!!! you know what that means right? a week and a half of pure stress and hell. i figured that this quarter would be pretty easy, and then something called 'midterms' hit. and the results of a few of them were not very favorable...well at least to my satisfaction. i just can't wait til 1100am on december 7 hits, cuz then i'll be on winter break!!! and it will truly be a break, cuz i dont really plan on working during this break...mainly cuz im making too much money, and calvet might get cut off if i don't watch it. so that means 4 weeks of...hmm...fun or boredom? we shall see...but for now i must focus on the task at hand...getting ready for finals...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =/

the night before turkey
why have my blogs been few and far between? well, for one, i have been really busy...haha...i always say that...but it's true. this past week has been the busiest i have been this whole quarter. the main thing that happened was APSA high school conference. since i was programming co-chair w/ Aldrin (haha aldrin...there i plugged your site), we were up late on wednesday and thursday trying to finish the program on time. then i took the program to the printer's bright and early on friday morning...so that they could get it done in time for the work party that night. so after that i went to work (note to the reader...since i started talkin bout my week, im prolly gonna talk about the rest of my week up to now, so skip to the end if u dont wanna read it). they finaly put me into an office at work...meaning that i dont have to work in the lab area anymore, i have my own place to work...although i have to share the office w/ 3 other people...at least i have my own desk and workspace. so...after work, i chilled for a bit, then picked up the programs. when i got to the cross...Aldrin and i kept the programs in the box til Mindy got back w/ the long stapler, so everybody had to wait to see our surprise. well, when we finally revealed our surprise (color covers for the program), everybody's jaws dropped. so then we put the rest of the programs together, and continued w/ the work party...which included practicing for the infamous dance routine. before the night was over, Janet got a call from Susie asking if we could pick up some LA area students from her apartment, so Jason and i went to pick em up. after doing that i went home @ about 130am and crashed...only to wake up @ 630 to get to ucsd by 730.

well the day went pretty well, especially since my co-facilitator Stacy seemed to really be into it...but my students didnt seem to be into it. it felt like i got all the students that were in the facilitator training scenario (pessimist, cant get enough of girlfriend, quiet one, the one who disappears) but we did have 1 person who seemed to be getting something out of it. but as long as someone got something out the day, it makes everything worthwhile. the performance by hereandnow was in a word...wow. they opened the show by playing childhood games like this pushing game, and red light green light, and they had audience participation. i was chosen by Joy Bisco who was also in The Debut to play red light green light. well as soon as i got up there, i made a fool of myself by falling over when they shouted red light, and had to start over from the beginning. but eventually i was able to almost make it and win...but oh well...but that gave me even more desire to watch The Debut. but as i was saying...hereandnow rocked the house w/ their performance. after a lovely dinner from catering, entertainment was up, and we performed the infamous dance routine. mad props to Cat for taking the dance routine under her wing, especially since she's just a 1st year. the entertainment was pretty cool, and then we got our groove on @ the dance. after the dance, Barstow high school's bus was delayed, so a bunch of us waited around until the bus finally came. another shoutout to Cat for accidently finding the bus, and for the rest of us who waited w/ the Barstow peeps til the bus came. well when i got home, i ate, and then passed out.

well, the next day i had a midterm review, so i had to get up @ 1000 to get to the 1100 session. i soooooooo did not wanna go, but i did anyways...but when i got there i found out that it had been pushed to 5pm that night!!! man...i got up for nothing...so i chilled til then and got my study on. after that, i went out w/ Kristen to find a gift for Thomas my secret pal for summer bridge, then i headed home. the next day was the summer bridge holiday party, where we gave our secret pals the gift, my secret pal ended up being Raul, and he gave me a book of happiness quotes...pretty cool might i add. we also did a white elephant gift exchange. i ended up w/ a bottle of goldbond powder. after that i went home and studied for my midterm. tuesday, i had a midterm in organic chem, which really sucked...and the rest of the day, i just chilled. today was a pretty laid back day, where i slept late, since i only had 1 class.

well, that was a long blog...my first in a long time. i was gonna put some randomness here, but i think this went on long enough. im gonna go relax watch tv. HAPPY THANKSGIVING everybody!!! stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

family
well...i never blogged about this, maybe cuz it slipped my mind (bad Jeff) but i have a new mentee for APSA. her name is Lin (hi Lin...if you ever read this). i feel bad, cuz we havent really done any real mentor/mentee bonding activities, since she wasn't at mentor/mentee day @ Balboa park...but have no fear, i shall take her out to get boba, and other mentorly activities. APSA now has this new concept for the mentor/mentee program, which is mentor/mentee families where we mentor each one of our family of mentees. so, i would like to say a friendly hello to my family of fellow mentors Jenni, Nisha, and Emily, and to my family of mentees John, Tricia "w/ a C" , April, and of course Lin. i hope that we all get together at least once a quarter and do something with "the family"...like a family night out or something. well...im gonna go back to watching TV...btw, im watching Jay Leno right now, and he has the "Dancing Osamas" doing their thing...pretty hilarious. well for now...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

randomness
i dont really have any major stories to mention on my blog...so i figured, that since i havent had randomly babbled in awhile...its time for another installment of random thoughts...enjoy!!!

registration is coming up for me on friday, and if i can get the classes i want, i can have 4 day weekends again...i didnt do as well as i wanted to do on my midterms, but i still did alright, just gotta study harder for finals...where were u when the earthquake hit? guess where i was, yeah i was online, i am such an addict...Janet cracks me up, she was running around frantically when the quake hit, and was telling me about it...i've been recently introduced to mah-jong, and now im kinda hooked, i suck, but im practicing online, who knows, one day i might get up to triple k status (mah jong group...not the racist group) we shall see...high school conference is coming up, i hope we get a huge turnout (we already got 200 preregistered)...magkasama was today, i got there towards the end, so i didnt see too many performances, much props to KP for the event...visit my ate Cat's website that was inspired by yours truly...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

the end of ugliness...til next time
guess what...I'M DONE WITH MIDTERMS!!!...*ahem*until thanksgiving week*ahem*...but oh well...who cares...im done...no more worrying about studying for stuff until the next round of midterms. i finished my last midterm today, which happened to be HDP1, the class where everybody and their mom is in. that midterm was not too bad...but we shall see how well i really did. plus my other midterms werent too bad either. so now, im off to celebrate, by doing absolutely nothing academic this weekend. by the way...did i mention that i have 4 day weekends??? well...if u didnt know...now u know. 4 days free of academic brain stimulation (aka brain pain). well im off to start my celebration. oh before i leave, i must say hi to Vaness, who wanted me to say hi, since i "never" say hi to her or get to see her...plus she mentioned me on her webpage. im off to galabant now...stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =)

something new
someone famous (i dunno who) said that u should always try new things in life. well, tonight i decided to take their advice, and tried something new. i went over to the La Cima apartments, where i learned to play...MAH JONG!!! it was mah jong night at Reggie, David, Jas, and Steph's apartment. im still a bit shaky when i play, and i cant strategize to save my life, but i pretty much got the hang of it...even if i am slow....i even won 2 games! well...i just wanna thank reggie, david and Phil for helping me learn to play, and being patient with me when i made stupid moves. also along for the fun were Mayrin, Lauren & Kim, although Mayrin and Kim were busy watching Dawson's Creek...i have no idea what they see in that show, but eh. Lauren was pretty good at mah jong...but just wait...as soon as i get my strategization in order...i shall conquer mah jong!!! you'll see!!! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

where's jeff?
yeah yeah...i disappeared...so what? i've been really busy this quarter trying to stay as studious as jeffly possible...and so that means less blogs. don't worry, i havent totally disappeared, i will still update this thing when i find the time, but until then, stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

where is he?
i have been missing in action again. sorry about that, but i have been busy with a lot of stuff. lotsa things have happened since i last posted, including the attacks on the world trade center and the pentagon. that was a tragedy, but it amazes me how something like that can unite the nation like its never been united before. its also amazing how that son of a bush we call president can have a 90% approval rating because of this, and not because of anything that he did before this. i dunno...i think that its good that this country is united, because a nation divided is easier to fall apart in attacks such as these. i also have much respect for those people who are looking for anybody who could have survived this tragedy. i just hope that we can somehow get back to some semblence of normal life sooner or later. well, enough of my 2 cents on this topic, there has been plenty of coverage on this event over the past couple of weeks.

another major thing that's been happening in my life has been the return of school. i did not want summer to end, i was enjoying not having to do anything academic. well my schedule isnt that bad....im only taking 3 classes and i have 4 day weekends (fri-mon), meaning that i take tues/thurs classes w/ weds sections...but im gonna try not to let that get to my head, and try to stay on track to do well this quarter...wish me luck!!! well, for now i must go do a bit of studying before i head off to sleep, since i have work tomorrow. before i go...i must say hi to Kathy since she mentioned me in her blog, pretty nice of her too. also wassup to all u bridge peeps out there. nite all...stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Back to work
eh...i started back to work today...i totally did not wanna be there. it felt so weird being back there after being gone for 6 weeks. i dunno...i guess the reason why it was so weird was that i was back to working to only a handful of people, instead of 149 students and 27 staff members of summer bridge. i dunno, it takes awhile to get back to the normal routine of my old job, which isnt much....but as i said, it's totally different than the kinda work environment that i had been exposed to for the past 6 weeks. especially the communication factor...i mean, in summer bridge, communication was everything...but in my "normal" job, a lot of things go unsaid and things just "go" without much communication, well i guess that's cuz so many people are playing politics with each other in my job that if they actually speak to each other, feelings get hurt, and drama erupts. i was thinking to myself that i miss working for Summer Bridge, and can't wait til next year to do it again. i was also thinking that im glad that im only gonna work for 10 hours a week during the first quarter...i dunno if i can take much more than that so soon after bridge. dont get me wrong...its a pretty good job, and the pay is great...but the job seems kinda stuffy now after the experiences of bridge. each one of the students and staff from bridge hold a special place in my heart, and i do miss the fun times that we had at Argo Hall. yeah yeah...that was cheesy, but true. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

ddr freak
guess what i did tonight? well if u guessed play dance dance revolution...u guessed right. yeah...i actually went to my friend Joan's house and played some ddr. and you know what? i suck sooooooooooooo bad!!! it's not even funny. i wish i could play like all those ddr fanatics who can play the game w/ their eyes closed. i cant even play that great w/ my eyes open. i really need to practice more, cuz i really wanna be able to actually play and clear a level or two. so if anybody is willing to practice with me, i would be much obliged. i have lots of time during the next 2 1/2 weeks to play ddr...so i wanna learn...check out my lil advertisement

random thought
Fatboy Slim's video "Weapon of Choice" is a pretty cool video. Christopher Walken cracks me up when he does his dance. Michelle Jeung can do a hilarious impersonation of his dance...u gotta see it =) yeah that was random...but i just finished watching his video...gotta love late night videos on mtv
it's over...it's over now
sorry about my last post...i was just having a bad day, and i havent had time to update it cuz of bridge and all. basically, i found out some stuff that got me feeling not so great. also my friend who had wanted me to mc her debut asked me not to do it, because she didnt want me to be a rose and mc at the same time, so i had to step aside. so yeah...i wasnt feeling that great. also adding to that was the thought that summer bridge was ending, and i didnt want it to end. speaking of which...summer bridge ended yesterday and im feeling a bit of bridge withdrawal. i cant completly explain it other than that i miss the students and talking to them. i also miss hanging out with the staff either in my suite, or in the pit during pit duty. i built relationships with these people that i dont think i could have done anywhere else. i am very thankful for the opportunity to have worked for this program...and i do plan on coming back for sb '02, but im not sure if i'll come back as an ATC or RC...we shall see. 1 thing i definitely wont miss will be the food. plaza cafe definitely has the worst food anywhere. i ate that food, and my stomach was really mad at me, and i paid for it. i think it's still mad at me...i need to apologize to it for torturing it for a month.

it was weird being back at home too. when i woke up this afternoon (haha notice i say afternoon)...i thought to myself that i was gonna be late for a meeting. i seriously was staring at my clock for 5 minutes before i realized where i was at. i dunno...it just hasnt completely hit me that this program is over. but hey...who knows, maybe when i wake up tomorrow...i'll remember where im at, and not think that im gonna be late to some meeting. well...i shall be enjoying the next week off before i go back to my other job...but as for now, i think imma go relax a bit and watch some tv before going to sleep. until next time...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages. =)

sadness
sad day today...i found out some tragic news...Aaliyah died today =( it really sucks, cuz i really dig her and her music. but the thing that really sucked was how young she was. she was only 22!!! that's 2 years older than me for god's sake!!! i was looking forward to hearing a lot more from her. i even had a lil crush on her...she was the one celebrity i would choose to meet if i had the chance...but now that will never happen, cuz a tragedy killed her. what a way to end a somewhat decent day, especially after a great summer bridge talent show. i can't believe it. i am in mourning...=(

Tuesday, August 14, 2001

long time no blog
so what??? yeah yeah, i havent blogged in awhile...but then again i've been pretty busy for the past few weeks w/ summer bridge and all. but i am having a good time, although i'm working late hours that ive never worked before. but other than that, the students have been great. this job has been keeping me really busy, especially since i have about 40 students on my list that i have to meet with twice during this program. if you do your math, that means that i have 80 meetings with students, and thats not counting the countless numbers of staff meetings that i have to attend daily. so basically, my job is all about meetings. if it sounds like i'm complaining, i'm not...i really am having a good time getting to know the students who are here, and i'm really enjoying my large room and my extra large bed that no one, other than the resource counselors get to have.

august is moving by really fast...almost too fast. it's already half over, and it's already the 2nd week of the program. speaking of which, i gotta buy my best friend Chie a birthday gift since her bday is this saturday. i have no idea what i wanna get for her. why are girls so hard to shop for??? i think i'm gonna hit up the mall either tomorrow or thursday when i have some time off to get something for her. ah well...time to get back to work...until next time...stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =)

Moving In
for the past few months, i have been talking and talking about this thing called summer bridge, and about how i am really excited about moving away from home and into the dorms @ UCSD. well now that time has come, and i am now residing in the dorms of Argo Hall @ Revelle College. i moved in today, and am pretty well situated...well not too situated, cuz i have to move outta this room on friday. no i'm not moving back home after only 4 days in the res halls. someone @ the reservations desk here goofed up, and forgot to reserve the dorms for the staff of summer bridge the week before bridge begins (now), so for right now, we are stuck in temporary rooms until we can move into our more (somewhat) permanent rooms this friday. the room that im in isnt that bad...its meant for 3 people...but im the only one here. and im only sharing the suite (living area w/ 7 rooms) with Chris since no one else has checked in yet. but when i do move into my room, i'll be in a 2 person room by myself and sharing a suite w/ only 3 other peeps...so that shouldnt be too bad. ah well...im gonna head off to sleep now since i got training @ 8am in the fricken morning...nite=) stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages!!!

Insert title here
here it is the groove slightly transformed...just a bit of a break from the norm...just a little somethin to break the monotony...of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be...a little bit out of control it's cool to dance...but what about the groove that soothes that moves romance...gimme a soft subtle mix...and if aint broke then dont try to fix it (dont try to fix it)...and think of the summers of the past...adjust the base and let the alpine blast...pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme...and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime...

remember that song??? summertime by will smith (aka the fresh prince)...that song brings me back to my days at hickman elementary school...somewhere around 5th or 6th grade...maybe cuz thats when it first came out. that has to be one of the all time summer anthems, and must always be played at one point or another during summer, or else it isnt summer.

as for what i have been up to...pretty much the song describes what i've been up to..well sorta. i've mainly been workin and going to summer school. and just chillin w/ a few friends here and there. i dunno...im just trying to enjoy myself as much as i can before september 20 comes around...cuz when that date hits, the craziness starts all over again...well lucky for me, i have 4 day weekends next quarter, otherwise it will really be craziness. so since i am trying to make the most of this summer, i havent really been making much of an effort of updating my blog (although i have been on the computer a lot cuz of work and pure boredom)...but im not as bad as some people...*ahem*...right Janet? =)

for now the days are counting down until summer bridge training begins (it begins this wednesday)...i am definitely looking forward to working for this program (as u can tell in a lot of my other previous blogs)...it really made an impact on my life at UCSD, and i hope to make the same impact to the incoming freshmen who are going through the program. another perk for me working for summer bridge is that i get to move out from home for a month...it aint much, but at least it's something. as for now, i think im gonna head to bed...eh, maybe not...i think im gonna play some ps2 then go to sleep. stay tuned we'll be back after these messages...=)

A Very Special Day
so the countdown to the very special day has reached 0...meaning that the special day has come. the event that occured on this day? why of course, my birthday...my 20th to be exact. 20 years ago today, Jeff Green hit this earth, and the world hasnt been the same ever since...haha yeah right. but yeah, i am officially not a teenager anymore, which means...absolutely nothing other than the fact that i dont have the word "teen" in my age anymore. i still have to wait until i can do anything "legal," although i have bent the laws on a few occasions =). but anyways, today was a pretty nice day...although i did go to summer school, and popped into work for a few hours. tonight i went out w/ my family (dad, aunt, and 2 cousins) to dinner @ the international restaurant on convoy. the food was alright, although it wasnt as good as it was the first time i went there. and then i got a Playstation 2 which means i can play video games and watch DVD movies...it will come in very handy when i go to bridge. tomorrow...i celebrate w/ my friends at my dinner party @ trophy's in mission valley. that should be fun...anyways im gonna stop wasting what's left of my special day on the computer, and finish wasting it in front of the tv. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

1st day of Summer School
today was a really long day...well somewhat. i woke up @ like 745am so i could give my friend Cynthia, from UC Davis a mini tour of UCSD and get her parking permit before her 930am class. after that...i had nothing to do for the next hour and a half, so i went in to work...big mistake!!! the minute i get in, peeps were storming me to do stuff....they were like "welcome back jeff, good to see you...could u do this for me?" i had my vacation, now im paying for it...oh well. anyways, i went in til 11, then went to my bio class. my professor, has a really strong british accent...he's the type of guy who would pronouce tomato with the long "A". so i sat through an hour and 20 min of his quirky accent...then grabbed something to eat (away from price center)...then went back to work, where i was stampeded again w/ peeps asking me to put their computers together and stuff. after that i went to UPS to pick up the new One Voice CD that i had ordered...woohoo...its pretty cool, i like it a lot!!!=). then i went to get some boba from green tea house...damn it!!! they raised prices there...i paid $3.43 for a honeydew milk tea w/ boba!!! it's raised $0.43 since they opened 3 months ago!!! im gonna have to cut back a bit. but after that, i just went home and chilled. hmm...i guess thats all for now...no randomness for you...i need to get to sleep, my boss asked me to come in a bit early tomorrow for something...good thing i get weds off for the 4th...ah well...nite all...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =I

MIA
wow...long time since ive updated...well i've been pretty busy since i last updated. i havent even been in the state for the last week. yup, thats right, i went to Las Vegas with my dad to visit my brother, since my dad hasnt seen his new house. but yeah...i was there for 6 whole days...6 days of not being able to do any "Vegas" things...sucks not to be 21 in a place where u have to be 21 to do anything...now i know how Ian feels here in daygo =รพ (just playin ian). anyways, other than that, i had been working, and chillin w/ friends who are left in daygo. yesterday i went to Rosanna's 21st birthday party right after getting back from vegas...i was tired, but i still went...lotsa peeps who i havent seen in awhile there, and of course there was lotsa drinking there...but none for me...i was too tired, and still had to drive later. after that, i went to Chrizil's graduation party. there were a lot of UCSD peeps and alumni there....we got a long game of scrabble going...that seriously took forever, but it was fun...my team won!!! GO SPEEDOS!!! =) after that, i was about to go home to pass out from the long day...but i was persuaded to go to suspension bridge with Chris, Baker, Jane, Trixie, & Annie. pretty cool stuff, but a bit freaky w/ the squeakiness of the bridge, and the "mysterious" lights that kept moving towards us. it was fun...but then afterwards, i went home and passed out til like 2 today. and tomorrow...i get to start summer school...yay me!!! 5 weeks of Bio2...woohoo!!!

randomness...Las Vegas is a mighty hot place this time of year...i move out from home in less than a month for a month!!!...oh yeah, and of course the count down for a special day, days left: 11. ahh...i guess thats all for now, so stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Summertime Summertime
do u realize how relaxing it is to be away from school? summer break has come upon the students of UCSD, and i am very happy. being on summer break has made me lazy, and has made me not do anything that is related to being productive other than working...meaning that i have been laggin on updating this thing. i was really burned out from school, especially with finals, so i havent felt like being productive. but really nothing has happened within the last week, other than finals, and some friends graduating from high school and college. congrats to all u who graduated, and good luck w/ whatever u do w/ yourself.

another side effect of the school year ending are peeps leaving daygo to head back home. a few minutes ago, i was driving in La Jolla, and Steph Ng saw me pass by her, as she was going to the gas station to fill up before she headed back home to the bay area. she called me up, on my cell and told me that she had seen me pass by, and also said bye to me for the summer. so sad so sad...w/ friends leaving for the 3 months break, and other friends leaving to start their lives away from UCSD. i wonder what it will be like to leave this place to start my own life. another side-effect of the college student's summer break is that it's somewhat hard to catch up w/ old high school friends cuz they have their own things going on in their own lives that no longer involves you. i dunno...i remember when i graduated from high school 2 short years ago, as we were getting ready to walk across the graduation stage, a bunch of my friends and i made promises with each other to keep in touch and to get together every once in awhile, just like old times. too bad it doesnt work that way. no one is at fault for not keeping those promises, it's just the way that life after high school (aka college) life works. dont get me wrong, i still keep in touch with a few of my hs friends (including my best friend Chie), but i still think about the promises that we made to keep in touch with each other, and wonder how it would be if we all actually kept our promises.

random ramblings: hmm, i really like summer break, its been way too long since last summer...i wanna go to magic mountain, prolly gonna go sometime in july...the countdown is on for a very special day days left: 23...boba is good, especially from "my" (green) tea house...i seriously need to get a tan, especially on my legs, u need blinders to see my legs, or else you'll go blind from the brightness, thats how white they are...i guess thats all for now, im gonna get back to work for the next half hour til im off...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

A letter from a credit card company
i received this letter today from a credit card company i had signed up with during an APSA grad banquet fundraiser...

Dear Jeff D. Green
Thank you for your recent application for a credit card account. We regret we are unable to approve your request at this time. The reason(s) for our decision are:
Not a full-time student at an accredited 4-year college or university

As a result of our decision, any balance transfer requests included with your credit application will not be processed.
Thank you for your interest in our credit card program.

Sincerely,
M. Maxwell
Department Manager

wassup with that? i dunno about you..but the last time i checked UCSD was on the list of the nation's top 10 colleges. and i am definitely a full time student, especially since i'm taking 17 units this quarter. sorry i don't go to stanford or something!!! dumas credit card companies...making excuses so they wont have to give me credit. ah well...i dont need em

want some randomness? thought so...anyways...2 finals down (physics & ochem lab), 2 more to go (ethnic studies & genetics) and then i'm done for the year!!!...i forgot to post this, but i got a position for OASIS Summer Bridge as a Resource Counselor for the summer, not the position that i originally wanted, but i'm still happy with the position cuz i get to move out for almost 6 weeks...have i ever mentioned that i hate aol? well i do...i think my level of stress anxiety has gone down a lil bit to a straight 3, especially since i just knocked out 2 of my finals...good luck all...

i think its time for me to get back to studying...although i should be going to sleep since i only got like 3 hrs of sleep last night...ah well, stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Levels of finals anxiety...by Stephanie Aguon
level 1-"ha..i have finals"
level 2-"hmm...i should study..."
level 3-"they're not gonna be that bad..."
level 4-"shit, I have finals"
level 5-"I'm gonna get crapped on!"

hmm...i think im somewhere between 3 and 4...

random ramblings are cool...especially in the process of procrastination =)
study break
i dont wanna study anymore!!! ack...finals are next week...and i need to know stuff...but i dont know stuff...and i dont wanna learn anymore stuff. it's 2:30 in the morning...i just wanna sleep, but i really need to kick it into gear if i dont want this quarter to end up like last quarter. i really need to get away from studying @ home...too many distractions...tv, internet, phone (anywhere i go...the phone will be there, cuz i always have my cell on me). maybe i should discover clics, ive been there, but never studied there...and geisel is too quiet. i just cant wait til next thursday, when i turn in my final final of the year...and i'll be on summer break....well not for that long, cuz im taking summer school. i am such a procrastinator...i dont wanna do anymore freakin work!!! why cant it be summer already??? just skip the finals, and go straight to summer...too bad it doesnt work that way. i still gotta survive this week. there's one high point at the end of the week...and thats rex navarette (the filipino comedian). i cant wait to see him...he's sooooooooooooooo funny...i saw him last year, and he had me crackin up the whole 2 hours that he performed. im trying to get my friend Rosanna to come and see him, if she does, then that'll be cool. but other than that...im gonna be a nerd this weekend...and do nothing but study, and go to review sessions. im already starting the process of being a nerd this week by doing some precramming studying. i hope i absorb all this stuff. will i be able to do it??? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages!!!

Prom Night
did you know that tonight is prom night at my high school? well, yeah...it is. and i was supposed to go. a good friend of mine didnt have a date to prom, and asked if i wanted to go. at first i was gonna go. but then i realized that i promised to support Mayrin as she put on SEAfest, so i told my friend that i had made other plans. i kinda felt bad that i did that, but either way i woulda went, i woulda let one at least one of my friends down. but since ive been spending so much money lately on grad banquet and semi-formal, i made the most economical decision on my part, and decided to help support Mayrin. but then i found out later that SEAfest was cancelled...and when i went back to my friend to see if she had found a date, i found out that she did. oh well...im pretty sure she's having fun.

so what did i do instead of prom and SEAfest? well...i went to the Asian American Repertoire Theatre with Mayrin, Chris, Steph N, Reggie, Sonnier, Angeline, Darrell, Armando, and Christy and Alvin from SDSU. they performed "Sisters in Bondage: A Night of One Acts." it was pretty cool, and shall i say...intersting. we then went to Tea Station for some boba. i had some chocolate milk tea boba...never had that before, and it was pretty good...tasted kinda like a thinner nestle quik w/ boba balls in it. after steph dropped me off at my car @ UCSD...i picked up my friend Joan and went to Friday's. Jack Daniel's wings are good i tell ya...try them!!! funny thing....we saw Ben and Emmeline from SDSU there. weird seeing them there, since they live so far away. after we left Friday's, we didnt feel like going home, so we went to seal beach in la jolla, and just chilled there for a lil while. there were some crazy people there...a couple making out amongst the seals, drunk people tormenting the seals...very interesting. i had a good time...question is...would i have had more fun at prom? i dunno. i prolly woulda felt a lil bit old, cuz its been 2 years since i had my own prom. other than that, im sure i would have had fun...but tonight, i had fun, but for much less money than i woulda spent at prom.

random thoughts: 10th week coming up, am i ready for finals???...i cant wait til summer, im tired of school...i am taking summer school though (bio 2)...i find out about summer bridge this thursday, i hope i get it!!!...i wanna go on a road trip, hopefully to the bay area(you'll show me around right steph?), chris wants to leave this time zone, we'll see wassup...it doesnt feel good when you hit your funny bone in your knee on a desk like i just did...ok enough of my random ramblings, im going to bed. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

i seriously wanna move out!!! both of my parents are getting on my nerves!!!!!!!! i cant take it!!! ack...can i do it? if i do...i'd have to apply for loans, and find some roomies. is it worth all the trouble? free rent & food vs. getting away from parents (namely dad, since my mom has decided to move away). damn it...why do parents have to be so difficult? makes me wish i dormed...instead of staying at home

ok...so blogger has been down for awhile...so i havent been able post anything on here for awhile. this week has also been hella busy. i had the usual school work to do (midterms, quizzes, labs, projects, etc). and i also had the apsa grad banquet to deal with. i had to get the awards and stuff...pretty much by myself...so i was running around all over san diego trying to get bargains and "negotiate" with people. but all in all...it was worth it. just to see the graduating seniors, and the look on their faces when we (me Chris, Baker, and Jayne Kim) presented them with their sashes, picture frames, and certificates. these people helped me in my transition to ucsd...and i guess it was my way to give back to them. i had a lot of fun. i went with my friend Melody from USD....she's pretty cool...and we had fun. the dance routine, sticking to tradition, was last minute...and interesting. we did an airband type thing to the song SCREAM by Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson. the program went long, and didnt go according to plan...but it was still pretty cool. afterwards, we went to Scott's and just chilled there for awhile. well...tonight, i'm going to KP semiformal @ the Emerald Wyndham with my friend Rosanna. i think we're gonna have a hella good time, cuz we've known each other since high school...and we tend to always have fun together. well...im gonna go eat now...cuz im hungry...havent eaten since the banquet..stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages! =)

What a day
as i mentioned yesterday...sungod was yesterday...and it was pretty ok for most of the night, then got real ugly. well first, lemme start off with what happened after 130 (when my fun began). i went out on to library walk where all the vending and stuff was. and helped a lil bit with APSA food sales. we stayed out there til like 4 or 5ish. then i headed to my car on the shuttle w/ a bus load of drunken peeps singing sexual songs loudly...very interesting. then i got in my car and just sat there for a lil bit to decide what i was gonna do next...when some dude ran up next to my car, and started to pee!!! when i saw that, i started my car, and he stopped and ran away. i then got gas and went over to baker's and just chilled there before the concert. well..around 815ish..baker, mikey, dave & i headed over to rimac for the concert...but we made a lil detour to the back stage...where we saw xzibit playin ball. we kinda snuck in and chilled for awhile. after x left, mikey and dave played ball w/ some of x's crew while baker & i just chilled. after that, we got kicked out cuz we didnt have wristbands. so we went to rimac field and wandered around looking for peeps. we finally found Chris & Steph A. and went around with them. around 1030ish, x was about to perform...so we headed to the stage and tried to get as close as we could. well, when x started performing, it got pretty crowded where we were. and that doesnt mix when there are a lot of drunk people around. this is where things got ugly. about 5 min into x's performance...some dumases were pushing their way through the crowd...and knocked down about half of the crowd...including us!!! we all fell on top of each other. i was alright...but steph was right by me and she was shouting out in pain, cuz someone was crushing her leg...and i guess she passed out from the pain. so we rushed her out. and as soon as we got out, some crazy "lifeguard" girls pushed us out of the way cuz they supposedly knew how to "save her life" by checking her pulse. they even pushed the security guard (who was trained in cpr) outta the way. well anyways, steph woke up, and she was alright...except for a sprained toe (some dude crushed it). but in all the craziness...mayrin's keys fell out of steph's pocket. i hope they get found.

well...after the craziness calmed down, and mayrin got another set of keys for her car...we headed over to emiko's place. but i was feeling tired, and i didnt feel that comfortable at emiko's place...just cuz i have a feeling that she doesn't really like me all that much, so i just left. i dunno...i might be jumping to conclusions...but i really think that she doesnt like me, just by the way she acts around me...i try to be her friend, but i cant even talk to her, cuz she acts coldly towards me...ah well, forget her if she's gonna act that way around me.

and then today was Barbara's 21st birthday party @ her place. it was pretty cool, and there were a lot of people there, so it was fun. there was a big obsession with a sticky toy pig that you could throw at the wall and it would stick.

sorry if this blog was long...i had a lot to say...but now i think im gonna go to sleep. gotta do a lot of stuff tomorrow...so just stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Happy Sungod Day!!!
today is sungod day @ UCSD...meaning...its the biggest "official" excuse to get drunk and ditch class. haha...so much for me ditching class...i already went to my physics class @ 8am...but then again...i had to take a quiz. oh well...what can i do? well...now im at work and i plan on going to my ethnic studies class and genetics just to turn in my homework...but after that =). nah...i dont think im gonna get drunk...im not the type of person who gets drunk..i drink...but i dont get drunk. i have never been drunk in my life...buzzed, but not drunk. but what im really excited about is the xzhibit and naughty by nature concert thats going on tonight, and best of all...ITS FREE!!! (for ucsd students at least). but yeah...the rest of the day (starting @ 1:30) will be fun.
did i mention that i registered yesterday? oh yeah...i didnt..since i havent updated this thing in so long. well...basically next qtr i have 4 day weekends!!! that is so cool...its never happened before. monday, wednesday, friday classes always got in the way...but not next qtr. next qtr i have class tuesday-thursday and im off for the weekend!!! im not gonna mention the classes that im taking for next quarter until my mentee Maribeth tells me what she's taking. sounds stupid but yeah...lets just say that i asked her about her classes (first i might add), but she said that she wont tell me her classes until i tell her mine...so im not gonna say what im taking since i know she reads my blogs. if u really must know...just ask me in person or on aim.

ok its time again for some more random thoughts...since i know u like em
4 day weekends are pretty cool...green tea house (aka my tea house) has some damn good boba...i hope i did well on my ATC interview with Auggie & Liberty, i find out thursday of 10th week...8 days away from APSA grad banquet, and i still got a lot to do for the awards committee (committee=me) in order to get good gifts for them graduating seniors...next week is gonna suck again, i got a midterm, a project, a quiz, 2 labs, and a prelab to do, that in addtion to grad banquet stuff PRAY FOR ME!!!...cant wait to see the concert tonight, its gonna be cool...hmm...what else...i dunno i lost the rest of my randomness..alright...more to come, stay tuned!!!

A few things...
Happy Birthday to Stephanie Aguon!!! she turns 20 today. we went out to Fuddruckers to celebrate...and it was pretty cool...there were a lot of peeps there, including a few of her friends from her days @ Eastlake High. from there we went to her house and chilled there. also...i wanna wish my adopted mentor Agnes a Happy 21st Birthday....her's is tomorrow...er today..whatever....let's just say May 12 since im writing in that threshhold between friday and saturday. also good luck to Kaibigang Pilipino with their Pilipino Cultural Celebration (PCC). its tomorrow (may 12). i wish i could be there...but im headed to las vegas tomorrow morning @ 8am in the fricken morning to celebrate mother's day weekend with my mom. im flying there...so i'll get there in an hour. but yeah...my heart is with all you performers, and i would be there if i could. but yeah...go out and support them and give em mad love...they worked hella hard for all these months just to put this thing on. anyways...since my flight is @ 8am...i think i should get some sleep...i'll fill ya in later. nite =)

Damn them music peeps
this napster injunction thing is really starting to suck. i mean...im glad that the artists are looking out for their well being...but they forget about us college students...who have better things to spend money on than on CDs. getting music from napster is an economical way for us students (and non-students) to enjoy the product that these artists are putting out. i dunno about you...but i dont listen to all the songs that are on a CD that i buy...so basically im paying for songs that i dont even want...when i really want 1or 2 or 3 songs from that 1 CD. these music peeps arent suffering...theyre still multi-millionnaires living in bougie (sp?) mansions...driving 4-5 ferraris, escalades, etc. while we college students are going from loan check to loan check...or working our asses off to try to pay for tuition, books, food, rent and entertainment. i mean...yeah i can see that they dont get any money from the music thats being shared on the net...but at the same time...its not like theyre doing back-breaking labor or working in sweat shops, while living in poverty. think about it....what they dont make from the music thats being shared on the net, theyre making it up with personal appearances, concerts, endorsements, and CDs that are being sold. if anything, the small-time artists should be the ones who are complaining...cuz they havent made it into the mainstream, but most of them are getting new life from their music being circulated on the web, and are benefitting better w/ napster, than without. i dunno...that was a random thought that i had last night as i was studying...and i went on napster to find some songs, but i couldnt find any that i wanted. oh well...i got some other programs that i use to get my music.

a few more random thoughts...
good job Janet on your Korean Drum Dance performance on saturday, it was pretty cool...i hope i get to be an ATC for summer bridge, my interview was on saturday, and i think i did well...APSA officer meetings are really long..., i have to make my monthly car payment, ack $250 down the drain...speaking of $$$ for my car, i have to take my car for its routine maintenance, more money!!!...i also bought my grad banquet ticket yesterday....and i gotta buy my semi-formal ticket too...good thing i get paid tomorrow!!!

ok...i guess thats it for now...i should be going to my physics class in 5 min...but im gonna ditch, cuz its a really nice day, that and my professor isnt that great. enjoy =)

Deep Thoughts
ya know...ever since i posted that one blog last week regarding my "friendliness" i've received a lot of feedback from it. it seems like everyone has read it..and has had something to say about it. the most common thing that people have said is that they could see it...and that they agree in some ways. Phil even gave me the "blog of the week" award. i dunno...i appreciate people for being honest, and even blunt with me, and giving me their 2 cents worth about the topic. but sometimes i just wonder why no one ever brought it up to me before. i guess its cuz its a sensitive topic to talk about...and that they wouldnt feel right bringing it up just like that. i guess it took a bit of realization on my part to get people talking...at least talking to me about it. but i dunno...whenever people describe my friendliness as being "touchy" it really gets me thinking. i mean...do people associate Jeff Green with the word touchy? when people picture my face...do they also picture me being this "touchy monster"? i dunno...when i hear that word...i associate it with some sort of sex offender, and it really makes me feel low. its not like im trying to be a rapist...im just...well i was...trying to express a feeling of welcome to others. but i guess people have perceived that as touchy. i dont want people to think of me that way...i wanna be thought of as a friend who is there for them. i guess the hugs are [were] my way of reassurance that im there for peeps in addition to a sense of welcome. but i dunno...since it was brought to my attention...i have been really conservative with my welcomes. some people have noticed...while others havent caught on. what im really afraid of is that this will affect the way people will vote in the upcoming APSA elections, since im running for fundraising. some people will claim that they will pick based on who's most qualified...but i have a sneaky feeling that this issue will be a factor in the way some people will vote. dont get me wrong...im not afraid of losing, and i strongly believe that Jas is qualified for the position...but things like this affect peoples votes. i want to be seen by people as they would see a friend...not one who is touchy. with that said...i think i'll end there...g'nite =/
