on my own....again
well, i'm out of my house once again for OASIS Summer Bridge 2002. i'm living in the hallowed Argo Hall, in room 236, Chris Murphy's old room last year. here i shall remain for the next 5 or so weeks, til the program ends and i move back home. no moving around rooms like i did last year...although some of the staff who have already moved in will have to move to their regular rooms, since there are cheerleaders in the building (again). ah well, it's all good...i dont have to move =þ visitors are gladly appreciated during non-working hours, or even working hours. in plain english...come visit me people!!!

time to sleep...i got training at 8am in the freakin morning...hopefully my cell phone and Susan will be good alarm clocks. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

now that i got some time...
i thought i would give an update on whats been going on. well, for the past 2 weeks, i've been trying to make the most of my summer.

sunday-wednesday (7/14-7/17)
like i said a couple of blogs ago, i went to las vegas right after i turned 21. i stayed there for 3 days. i stayed at Treasure Island....a very evil place to go if u wanna win money, cuz that place took my money!!! oh well. only got carded twice, once when i actually won some money ($15), and once when i wanted a beverage. i swear, they dont care who plays there as long as theyre losing...but when they do win money, and they look underage, they care and start carding.

thursday (7/18)
rested up from my trip to vegas and got ready for...

friday (7/19)
my trip to magic mountain. i went with Marvin, Tiff, and Susie. we all had a lot of fun there, even though X was closed. =( oh well, i still had fun. Goliath is still my favorite ride, we went on that twice. Deja Vu woulda been fun if i hadnt heard my restraints click while i was hanging in the air. that was the first time i closed my eyes on a ride in a long time, if it werent for the clicking action, i woulda kept my eyes open...i swear!

saturday (7/20)
went to the Smokin Grooves concert at Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. i had a lot of fun, even though it was butt freakin cold when the sun went down. Outkast was the best act of the night, i loved their set. i'm sorry to say that i did not enjoy Lauryn Hill cuz it was not what i expected. she played a lot of her new songs that were like spoken word...but i was expecting some of her old stuff. but overall, it was a good concert. i give the concert 8 boba balls outta 10.

sunday (7/21)
went to Cat's dinner thing and just chilled so i could get ready for...

monday-tuesday (7/22-7/23)
Summer Bridge Res Life Staff Retreat in Julian. it was pretty cool, and very emotional. didnt get too much sleep

wednesday (7/24)
woohoo, i got to make out with a maniquin!!! yup, i gave mouth-to-mouth to a dummy so i could get my CPR certification. dont be jealous that i made out with a plastic doll and you didnt =þ

well, thats bout it...thats what ive been up to for these past couple of weeks. now i'm just getting ready to move into Argo Hall for Summer Bridge 2002. yup, i move in this monday, and the program starts on August 3. well, now that i put up this long blog, now i shall go do something else...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

galivanting
las vegas is fun, especially when youre 21 and can actually do stuff, and when there are people your own age to do stuff with. Rosanna, Shawn, and Cristina were there w/ their family. i had a lot of fun with them. the only thing that sucked about that trip was that i lost money. oh well. more later, stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

the day after
last night was sooooooooooooo much fun. i had a big shindig @ TGI Fridays in La Jolla with Janet. when i went there to reserve the table, i told them that i wanted a table for 35 people. the hostess didnt believe me, she thought i was lying...i had to shake her hand to get her to believe what i was saying. well, that estimate of 35 was a bad estimate. about 50-60 people showed up....we kept them busy there. but i was so amazed at the turn out...i tell ya, it's cuz Janet is sooooooo popular haha. hopefully, everybody had fun...and doesnt think anything weird of me cuz of my alcohol tolerance (its kinda high) especially since i was chugging them drinks as they came. by the end of the shindig, i was a bit buzzed...but not drunk =þ

after the tgi friday's thing was over, we headed over to Tiff & Susie's apartment, where we had more fun. Mark, Maria, Marvin, Ryan, and Michael came over to help me finish my night off. lots happened, most of it i remember...some i dont remember...let's just say that im a talkative drunk...i entertain people while im drunk. that was the first time i had ever been drunk, and its an experience that was very interesting. i'd give more details, but there were too many to mention. but all in all, my 21st Birthday was fun.

stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =D

coming to an end
this thursday will be my last day working in the same building, Student Center Building B, that i have been working in for almost 3 years. i will no longer be working for the UCSD Early Academic Outreach Program or Student Educational Advancement. part of me is sad to see my time there end, after all it has been almost 3 years. ive seen people come and go, and still i remained. i have grown to know just about everybody who works in that building, and have grown comfortable with them, and its kinda sad for me to be leaving them, and all the memories of working there. but at the same time, it is time for me to go...to move on, and find other things to do...other things that will help me in the future with my career. also, for the past 6-9 months, i have been growing tired of my job. i guess it was because it was getting too routine, or maybe it was because there wasnt much loyalty (and still isnt) to us student workers. it's funny, i have been working here for almost 3 years, and i have outlasted almost all of the "permanent" staff, and have been here longer than almost everybody there including my own boss and the director of EAOP (my old boss), and yet when budget issues come up, we student workers are the first to get axed. i guess after realizing that i'm expendable, i just started hating my job because of the lack of job security. i began to not care about getting my work done, or even showing up to work. since i was familiar with the system, i managed to work around the system and still get paid for the times that i didnt show up to work...i know, thats not a good thing, but u know u would do that too if u could do it ;) but now, my time here has run out, and its time to move past both the good times and bad. next stop is OASIS Summer Bridge, then after that...who knows? we'll see where i end up next.

in other news, the big day is in 3 days...imma be fully legal =D

stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

adventurous
so far this summer, ive been real adventurous in the kitchen. ive been cooking up a storm, from adobo and pancit to chicken alfredo, and even leche flan. i think to myself while i'm making this food that it prolly wont taste good, and no one will eat it. but amazingly, Tiff, Susie, and Ryan and others have enjoyed it, at least thats what they have told me and have showed it by eating it all. i guess i owe it to my mom, who forced me to watch her cook when i was a child, for actually being able to cook (unlike a lot of other college students), or was it the food network? im so glad that i decided not to take summer school, the time off that ive had from school has allowed me to do things that ive been wanting to do, like experiment with cooking, but couldnt because of school. also, it's given me a lot more chill time w/ friends without school getting in the way.

the countdown is down to 7 days...

oh, i forgot to mention...Happy 4th of July, even though it's the 5th now!!! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)
