Day 1
the first night of PCC went great!!! it was a lil bit rough during the run-through....but it smoothed out during the actual performance. hopefully tomorrow..er today's performance will be even better. i am sooooooooo tired. i was tired all day, even during practice...but when showtime came, i was pumped. it was also nice to see that there were several people out there to see me (friends, family, and a special someone). after the show, Law, Tiffany, and Geoff went to Law's place and chilled. now i'm home...time to rest up for tomorrow (today). stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

my children's lit paper
this is what my children's lit paper is gonna be about...well, actually its 1 of 3 books that my paper is gonna be about...all about the same thing...Jack (or Shaq) and the Beanstalk. my paper might be easier if i didnt keep stopping and looking at more interesting things, or even if Shaq could write, this book could confuse a 5 year old more than it would be useful. he's a cool basketball player and all, but he is definitely not a writer. his energy might be better used in practicing free-throws instead of wasting on it on writing. well, back to work, but before i leave...i must say wassup to carzy Nem =รพ stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

setbacks
*sigh*...not as happy as i had been. problems with someone who had made me happy before, but this problem is making me unhappy. but hopefully time will be on my side and "we" will both be happy. i just hate waiting, especially in regards to issues like this. i just hope feelings dont become lost in the mean time...cuz feelings are still there right now. why is this affecting me so much? even people around me have noticed something different about me. i'm not as cheerful as i had been a couple of days ago. being unhappy is not a very happy feeling. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =(

Waterfalls (Rap chorus)
i tried to post this yesterday, but blogger wouldnt let me publish...so here it is now...
I seen a rainbow yesterday
But too many storms have come and gone
Leavin' a trace of not one God-given ray
Is it because my life is ten shades of grey
I pray all ten fade away
Seldom praise Him for the sunny days
And like His promise is true
Only my faith can undo
The many chances I blew
To bring my life to anew
Clear blue and unconditional skies
Have dried the tears from my eyes
No more lonely cries
My only bleedin' hope
Is for the folk who can't cope
Wit such an endurin' pain
That it keeps 'em in the pourin' rain
Who's to blame
For tootin' caine in your own vein
What a shame
You shoot and aim for someone else's brain
You claim the insane
And name this day and time
For fallin' prey to crime
I say the system got you victim to your own mind
Dreams are hopeless aspirations
In hopes of comin' true
Believe in yourself
The rest is up to me and you
-Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes
ive always loved those lyrics ever since i first heard them in 1995. i dunno, for some reason those lyrics, especially the last part, has been significant to me. but now theyre more significant since the person who i first heard it from is now dead. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

Another life cut short
it's funny how we never notice the tragic deaths that happen until it happens to someone famous. this time Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from TLC tragically lost her life in an accident in Honduras. i remember when TLC first came out, i totally loved their music...i still listen to them from time to time. i just cant believe that the L from TLC is no longer around to make music. i was in disbelief when Mona told me about it, cuz the website that she showed me was the only one that had news about it...but once i heard more news, and heard it on the radio, disbelief became reality, sad but true....rest in peace Left Eye...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =(

boba controversy
ok, so Kristhine and i had this debate tonight at the APSA meeting about the proper name of those balls that float around in beverages. she says it's pearl, i say it's boba. we took a random survey of peeps standing around in the room and found out that most peeps from the bay (yay, hella, norcal, etc) area call it pearl or bubble, while the cooler people from southern cali refer to it as BOBA!!!. so, i decided to take a survey from the people who read my blog. so answer my lovely poll to settle this debate. *hint* the correct answer is boba =)
and while youre at it, sign the guestbook...it's gotten rather lonely lately. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

random ish
haven't felt the need to blog lately for some reason. yeah there have been a lot of things that have been going on, but i havent really felt like sitting down at my computer and putting it up for all to read. not that i'm defeating the pupose of having an online blog...ive just been too lazy. to briefly recap things...fusion was cool, pcc (Pilipino Cultural Celebration) practice is hectic and tiring, school is eh...lotsa reading, and STUDENTS FIRST dominated the AS elections (mad props to them), and i've filled up 1 frequent flyer card @ Quickly's boba shop since i started drinking boba again after giving it up for lent less than 2 weeks ago, i almostdied burnt in class (see last post), and i performed my pcc dance (Habanera) today @ Thurgood Marshall College's Cultural Celebration. now i'm pooped and hungry. i'm off to enjoy my bacon cheddar potato wedges from jack in the crack. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

WE'RE GONNA BURN TO DEATH!!!
today was a normal day at school. i go to class, i sit in class, i try to learn, and the cycle continues til 5 pm. but today was an unusual day. everything was going normal...until i get to my 2nd class of the day, cogsci 11 @ warren lecture hall 2208. my professor starts the class as normal. about 5-10 minutes into class, we hear a screeching sound coming from outside. well, since warren lecture hall is by a construction site, we assume that the noise is coming from there, so my professor asks someone to close the door, which is successful in quieting the noise, and continues with her lecture. about 2 minutes later, the tech guy who is setting up the projector for our class walks in casually to finish his work, and says calmly "oh by the way, the fire alarm is going off...everybody is leaving the building." my professor asks "does that include us?" and the guy replies by saying "i think so." she then tells us "i think that maybe we should leave." with a phD in neurology, she sure is wise when it comes to emergencies. so we proceed to evacuate the classroom and gather by the construction site. my point? well, my point is that in the case of an actual fire, the mini halls of warren lecture hall are not equipped w/ fire alarms, and the doors are soundproof enough to drown out the sirens of the alarms that are outside. so, if there had been a real fire during our lecture about cognitive development in neurons, we would havedied burned! aint that lovely? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages >=O

status quo
nothing major of note to report. first week of spring quarter has come and gone...meaning that there's only 9 weeks and finals week left til summer break. this year will be my first year since i was in high school that i will not be taking summer school. funny saying that, since i had never taken summer school til i got into college, and now summer school had become a routine...well, not this year. this year, i'm gonna enjoy my summer break, all i'm gonna do is work a bit, chill even more, and do summer bridge (thats work, but not really work cuz i really enjoy it).
speaking of work....i hate it! i wanna quit my job really bad. i dunno, i guess working there for over 2 years really burnt me out. it prolly wouldnt be as bad if they hadn't considered laying us off a couple of months ago. ever since they almost laid us, i havent been as happy working there as i once was. the idea of being expendable even after working there for over 2 years, just because i'm a student worker does not sit well with me. its funny, cuz even though i'm not permanent staff, i've been more permanent than even the permanent staff...shoot, i've even been there longer than my boss. the only thing that is keeping me at this job is the money...i need it. but even w/ that...i think i'm gonna quit after this quarter. money aint everything (but it sure is nice), especially when youre seen as nothing more than a "student worker." stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

DO NOT sell your books to the UCSD bookstore, unless u wanna get ripped off!!! I sold 2 books that i used last quarter, and bought for at least $25 each. well, i sold them today...and all they gave me was $5.75...FOR BOTH BOOKS, not each!!!

The End
the end has come for my spring break. while most others had class today, i on the other hand did not...since i don't have classes on mondays or fridays (and possibly on wednesdays if my lower div profs dont require sections)...anyways, to make things short, i cant wait til this quarter's over, since summer is just around the corner. what better way to spend the last day of my break, than w/ a special someone =) *SAPPINESS alert* (you dont get much of these, so enjoy it while it lasts) dont think im psycho or weird or anything like that, but yeah...u know that good feeling in your stomach that wont go away, kinda like butterflies...well i have that, and i like it...i hope it doesnt go away...
with that said, i shall turn in so i may rest up for my first day of the third quarter of my third year in college. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

boba in my tummy
today marked the end of my boba fast of 42 days (42, cuz i havent had boba since 2 days before ash wednesday)...and so i went buckwild, like i said i would. as of right now, i have a 4 stamps on my Quickly's card...the newest boba place, located conveniently down the street from me (of course, 1 of those stamps is from Ronnel's boba that i picked up for him). the rest of my day was pretty cool although i lost $40 @ Sycuan and Barona...but oh well, i had boba today...and i spent the day with a special someone and her family =)
a special "wholesome" shoutout goes to my Family Ties partner in crime Nem Pelonia who made a special appearance in my guestbook...stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =)

The Happiest Place on Earth
Disneyland is definitely a happy place to be. true that it may be no Magic Mountain, with no rides that adds up to Angeli's X, or my favorite ride Goliath, but it is definitely a place to relive your childhood....and i did just that today. i had a lot of fun, just riding the rides that i rode as a child. funny thing is that i even got the feeling in my stomach before i got there that i got as a child, in anticipation for what was to come. and to top things off, i experienced it w/ a special someone...that alone made it all worthwhile. i would have to say that my day at disneyland was one of the best (if not the best) times ive had there. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

haloHalo
peeps have been wondering why a lot of my online stuff (eg.AIM sn, email addy, blog) is based on haloHalo, and not boba, since i tend to enjoy boba and have it more often than haloHalo. my ate Cat actually made me think about it, and actually gave me this idea to blog about it, so here's the explanation...well, the simple reason is...before there was boba, there was haloHalo. haloHalo has a lot of meaning to me...it's not just dessert. the literal meaning of haloHalo is "mix mix," and that certainly describes me...i'm mixed, filipino and black...so what better and shorter way to describe me, than by that term...haloHalo. it was also a small lil joke when i was in hs...i guess, it kinda started like junior year when i walked into a room one day, and greeted everybody with a random word that came out of my mouth...that word..."haloHalo" w/ a filipino accent...and it got peeps crackin up for some reason, and i guess that stuck with me.
so it's not just a tasty dessert, it really means something, but i will also be accepting donations of boba...starting this sunday....til then i'll stick to haloHalo. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Reunion
last night was the reunion of all the Summer Bridges of the past. this year marked the 25th anniversary of the program...so there was a huge event to celebrate the occasion. it was weird seeing people who were students way back in 1978, way before i was even a glimmer in my parents' eyes. it's even weirder to see peeps Summer Bridge 1981, the year i was born ...to think that they were going through the program when my daily routine was eat, sleep, and get my diapers changed. it just makes me think how lucky i was to be in the program...looking at all these alumni, and seeing how successful they are now. it also gives me a good feeling that im working for the program...giving back to future classes of Summer Bridge, what was given to me from past Bridges. it was definitely nice to see other people who have at least 1 thing in common with me...Summer Bridge. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

sigh of relief
my level of finals anxiety is at 0...i am now completely done with all of my finals, and now i can chillax for a week and a half...thank God for spring break, my brain was starting to die (if it hasnt already). now its time to get this spring break party started...i plan to just relax, and hang out with friends and a special someone ;)
how do u like my new layout? i kinda got tired of that blue star, so i figure that since im on spring break, why dont i put up a new layout. direct any feedback to my guestbook...not too many peeps sign it anymore, and its getting quite lonely. i think i will end this now, cuz i cant think of anything else to write, since i just wrote 3 papers in less than a week...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

no more classes
i am finished with classes for this quarter...but im still doing homework. why you may ask? well...i have finals coming up. my schedule is as follows...asian american lit paper due monday, hdp 110 final on monday, adolescent lit paper due friday, adolescent lit final quiz on friday, children and the media take home final due friday...however, my adolescent lit prof said that if we turn our papers by tuesday, we dont have to take the final quiz...so thats what i'm aiming for. another aim is for me to finish everything by tuesday, but i doubt that will happen, cuz i thought my hdp 110 final was on tuesday, but its not, so that screws up my original plans. well, at the very latest i will be done with everything by wednesday, and so i'll have a week and a half for spring break. but i just have to survive til then. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

boba-less
i have officially decided that i am giving up boba for lent. i hadn't made it official til now. i know i know, lent is half over, but i havent had boba since before lent began, and i was debating whether or not i should go the distance. but now i have made the decision, meaning no boba til after easter. since lent began, ive had almond milk tea and thai tea w/ no boba, and i have to say that it's definitely not the same without em balls. i will be glad once lent ends, so i can indulge in my boba pleasure. oh...btw...any rumor that i have been unfaithful to my vow of no boba for lent *ahem* is an untruth haha....i have not had any boba since February 12, and that will continue til mr. bunny rabbit delivers me colorful eggs in a basket. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =X

Centerstage
talent show was soooooooooooooo good. i had a lot of fun, and things worked out with everything just fine and dandy. no one pulled any fire alarms thanks to my highly trained staff of fire alarm watchers. Brian & Moneek were great security co-chairs with me...i had a lot of fun w/ em. moneek also did a good job being in the dance routine and skit. Ian & Jas did a good job coordinating the show. i had a lot of fun even though i was running around like a chicken w/ its head cut off making sure everything was secure. i just wish i coulda did dance routine, but i couldnt cuz i almost passed out the night before while practicing for it cuz of this stupid cold that i had..and i didnt feel up to it during the show...that was the first routine that i missed out on since i started @ UCSD. ah well, all in all i had fun. a lot of high school friends who i havent seen in a long time were there, so it was good to see them. but what i'm really happy for is the fact that 220 got first place...they've always got 2nd place @ APSA talent shows in the past, but this year they were really deserving of 1st place, and took it. good job to everybody who made this year's talent show a success.
on a side note, i'm starting to feel much better, although i still have a slight cough...its not as bad as it was before...stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =)

feeling like...
i've been really sick lately...and all i've had was just a cough...nothing else. but this cough has been making me feel really tired, even though ive been getting like 7-8 hours of sleep a night since i first got this cough. i even take naps, but i still feel tired a couple of hours later. i havent been to work at all this week, cuz i havent been feeling that great. get this...when i went to the doctor's the other day, i went to the "walk in" line to sign in. they tell me to wait in the waiting area, and so i do. they finally call me to the back about 20 minutes later to take my vital signs (blood pressure, weight, etc) and after that, they tell me to go back in the waiting area. after another 5 minutes, they call me back again and tell me "well Jeff, we're gonna set up an appointment for you to come back to see a doctor, and it looks like they won't be able to see you today." why did they waste my time by having me wait, and by taking my vital signs if they were just gonna have me come back some other time? why couldnt they have told me when i walked into the office? that makes no sense! well anyways, i just left without making an appointment...cuz i didnt wanna come back there some other day and go through that stuff again. ah well, im feeling a bit better today...so hopefully that keeps up
APSA talent show is tomorrow!!! people please come. it starts @ 7pm at UCSD Price Center Ballroom. Tickets are $5 presale...$8 at the door. it's gonna be a cool show =) haha, now i'm using my blog as an advertisement, hopefully it'll work. til i cough again...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

procrastination
and so i have a midterm for HDP 110 tomorrow, and what did i decide to do today? that's right, i hung out with Mona today. i ditched work, and just hung out with her. it was pretty fun might i add. wandering around south san diego aimlessly was definitely better than studying or going to work. i did manage to get about an hour and a half worth of studying done today at the Southwestern College library cuz she had to go to class...i didnt wanna go home or head to UCSD and i still wanted to hang out with her some more after she got out of class, so i studied there. yeah, it was a fun day today...with more to hopefully come =). now i'm home and ive been studying for a couple of hours...but now what am i doing? yeah, i'm blogging. i'm such a procrastinator...wish me luck on my test tomorrow...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =) + =/

it happened again!
for only the second time that i have been in college, one of my classes was cancelled. my adolescent lit class was cancelled today because my professor was sick. good thing i checked my email during my break today, otherwise i woulda wasted an hour waiting around only to find out that my class was cancelled. so what did i do with my free time? well, i wandered around campus (between AP&M and the cog sci building) trying to find someone to authorize me to get into a class for next quarter. the stupid thing said that i was not in a major that was eligible to take that class, but the thing is, this class is a requirement for my HDP major. so i wandered around and finally i got the permission that i needed to add this class. so now i'm enrolled..yay me =) after that i napped, and went to the APSA meeting. when i got home from there, i worked on my children and the media project. i am now proud to say that i have finished my project..yay me again =)
i lead an interesting life don't i? stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

something's wrong
i think my internet explorer is acting weird...it wont let me view any blogger, geocities, or tripod pages. i cant even open the main blogger page with it. a page comes up saying that the page cannot be displayed (you know...that annoying white page w/ text on it) the only way for me to view these pages is by signing onto AOL...and we all know how much i hate AOL. so this sucks...the only way for me to read my daily reads is by signing onto AOL...i seriously hope this problem is fixed soon, otherwise im gonna be using AOL a whole lot more...which i dont wanna. anyways, its late...time to sleep...g'nite all. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

Broccoli w/ Mayonnaise?
this is random, but i don't see myself eating that. i know of 2 people who eat that, and they say it's good. the first person who i met that eats that is Lisa, and then i found out that my best friend Chie eats it too. funny thing is that they're both japanese...so i'm wondering...is that a japanese thing? i had never heard of that before until now...nothing wrong with eating it, i just dont see myself eating it...but then again, i didnt think i would like boba when i first tried it. well i dont think im gonna try broccoli w/ mayo anytime soon.
well, i just finished my asian american lit paper, and i have a headache. that is all...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Note to self
i helped out at the KP high school conference yesterday, and i learned one very important thing. never eat adobo, pancit, and rice that was made by UCSD catering...that stuff was really nasty. the rice was porridge-like, the pancit smelled and tasted funny, and the adobo was anything but. the catering people even asked us if we wanted to eat it w/ chopsticks!!! we aint chinese...we dont eat filipino food w/ chopsticks...if anything, we eat w/ our hands. but other than that, the conference was a success...way better than last year. good job KP, and good luck to Dianne Que who organized this thing. *sniff sniff* my original APSA programming partner in crime is growing up *sniff sniff*. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Valentine's recap
and so another valentine's day has come and gone...just another day to add to the countless number of days that i've been single. i've always hated this day...the hearts, the redness, the lubbydubbiness of the day. just another reminder that there isnt a special someone for me to share this day with. as i speak right now, there are prolly a lot of people capping off their night with their special someone. as for me, i'm typing this blog...sad u say? i dont. as i woke up this morning, i thought to myself, oh boy, today will be full of lubbydubbiness, and none for me. so i went to my classes as if it were a normal thursday...nothing special there (other than getting my midterm back, and doing better than expected)...talked to a few people, ran a few errands after class. by the time i was done w/ my errands, and got to the cross for the APSA talent show meeting, i was tired and about to pass out on the meeting table. but when i saw the room fill up with people who also had nothing else to do and treated today like it was just another day, that reenergized me...even the ones w/ sig figs showed up...and the room was full of joyful energy...maybe it was cuz we were revealing each other's crazy cupid, but it still made me feel better. at times, i even forgot what the day was...i just thought of the crazy cupid stuff as a bunch of friends getting together to give their secret pals a gift. as the meeting started, Ian told us to tell everybody our name, major, college, committee, and best valentine memory. well when it was my turn, i said that today was the best one, just cuz no other valentine's day stood out in my memory, and today was just like the others. but now, a few hours after that meeting...i realize now that this was the best valentine's day ive had...not because we were celebrating the day of love with our sig figs (or by ourselves)...but because we were celebrating it with each other, and having a good time too. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

sigh of relief
rejoice everybody...i'm done with my paper!!! i just finished it about 5 minutes ago, and i am relieved. i dunno, that was supposed to be the easiest paper that i have ever done since it's on one of the easiest books that i have ever had to read in college FUDGE-A-MANIA by Judy Blume, but it was actually harder than i thought it was gonna be cuz it isnt a regular book report that we all had to write in elemantary school, i had to develop a paper topic and and analyze the book in the context of my class. so what i ended up doing was write 1 or 2 sentences, and then surf the net...write another couple of sentences then go eat...write a paragraph, and then talk on AIM. the final paper was supposed to be 1500 words, but it turned out to be just a little over 1400 words, but oh well, i dont think my professor is gonna mind too much (i hope!).
my last blog was a bit weird cuz i was refering to myself in the third person...but oh well, i was procrastinating and thought it would be fun to refer to myself in the third person...yeah i'm weird, but you dont know that =รพ stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

what to do?
as i sit here and ponder this dilemma of mine, i wonder why i'm stressing so much over it...i mean i got other things to worry about, and yet at the top of my list is this dilemma...i'm just hoping that the best comes from this, and my pessimism will be wasted worry. i do have to say that my outlook for my dilemma has gotten a bit better since yesterday. i just realized that if i want what i want to happen, i just have to take it on as a challenge, and overcome it...i will succeed (i hope). sorry if i'm not going to far into details, but this is something that i don't care to post on the web in detail for everybody and their mom to gawk at. and i certainly don't want someone IMing me saying that "i know what youre going through" or even having pity on me. no offense to anybody who may be reading this, but this is something that i need to ponder on my own, and if anybody really wants to know what it is, it would have to be through a genuine conversation, and not a passing IM. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

weeeeeeeiiiiiird
try the colorgenics profile of yourself...i just did, and it totally described me, and what i'm feeling right now, not a single word about it was incorrect...ok some of you may be thinking i'm weird now, and i sound like one of Miss Cleo's testimonials, but this really described what i'm feeling. i dunno how it did it, all i know is that it did. well, i hope what it recommends for me to do works too. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

cancelled
there's always a first for everything...my HDP110 class was cancelled today, making it the first time in the 2 1/2 years that i have been @ UCSD that a class of mine has been cancelled. it's always nice to have an hour and a half of unexpected free time during the day to do whatever. well, i just thought i would mark this monumental occasion w/ a blog. now i'm off to go study for my midterm that i have @ 1245 today. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

schedule
i was having this debate earlier w/ Gennie about who has the better schedule. she feels that her 8am-12am classes mon-thurs are better than my 935-515 (w/ a break from 205-355) tues/thurs classes. i on the other hand tend to disagree...cuz of a couple of reasons...1. 8am class, enough said! 2. only 1 day off in the week compared to my 3 days (and weekends). 3. she has 4 straight classes. although i am usually exhausted at the end of the day tuesday and thursday and i do agree that finishing before lunch is a good thing, there is no way that finishing before lunch and 8am classes can beat having 3 days off in the week...u can keep your schedule gennie, i'll keep mine. speaking of which, i had better get to sleep cuz my long day is tomorrow, so for now...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Superbowl XXXVI!!!
congrats to the New England Patriots for winning the superbowl. it was a pretty cool game, and at the end it was pretty close, until the Patriots scored in the last play w/ a field goal. all in all, a good game. the commercials were also pretty good. the britney spears one was pretty decent...now i want a pepsi (not really)...speaking of which, i had my first soda in 6 months today, it wasnt that great, so i think i'm gonna go back to not drinking soda any more. continuing on on my commercial discussion...for some reason i really liked the yahoo commercial w/ the dolphin that talked...and the budweiser one where he slips off of the bed and out of the house, those were pretty cool. i was curious about one thing though...what is that mlife thing? i went to their website, and it was closed...way to go, advertise a website that doesnt even work...nice way to spend a million bucks for every 30 seconds. and the commercials didnt really explain what it is. well if anybody knows what it is, it would be greatly appreciated if you would share that knowledge with me. so with that said, i shall go on a commercial break...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

Take the Final Fantasy X personality test here!
yeah yeah..i'm bored, so i'm taking these personality test things...pretty cool, cuz i get some cool graphics for my blog for once. go take some of these tests, and lemme know the results.
I am Kung Fu Master.I like to be in control of myself. I dislike crowds, especially crowds containing people trying to kill me. Even though I always win, I prefer to avoid fights if possible. What Video Game Character Are You? |
hmm...well, i do like to be in control of myself, but i dont think i dislike crowds...well maybe those "let's kill jeff" crowds. haha. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

i must study, study must i...well not that much, but i gotta at least go over my notes, and remember what i wrote. i have a midterm tomorrow in HDP 110, but i'm not too worried, cuz its a lot of what i learned when i was in HDP 1 last quarter. i hope my cockiness doesnt result in a bad grade. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =X

The Debut Review
and so, as planned i saw The Debut, and i must say that i really liked that movie. i'm not gonna say too much about it other than it is so worth the $7.50 that i paid in advance online, and the drive down south, because i don't wanna give it away for those of you who haven't seen it yet. good thing i bought my ticket in advance online, cuz it sold out early. its also good to support this movie, since its the first filipino created, produced, and directed movie with filipinos in the starring roles, and its success would mean future filipino big screen movies...so i highly encourage everybody to watch this movie. so just in case you were wondering, i give this movie a rating of 9.5 boba balls (out of 10). i mean, it didnt have any special effects like The Matrix, but it did have a good storyline, and she was in it...haha..remind me to post my pic that i took with her in november...too bad she wasnt at the theatre tonight...but Bernadette Balagtas (Rose) was there, and she signed my ticket stub. along to enjoy the show with me were Ronnel, Anthony, Lauren, and Kim...so all in all, not a bad night. well, i'm tired...so i shall sleep now. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

The Debut of The Debut
The Debut is officially coming out in San Diego tomorrow. i'm catching the 1020 showing @ AMC Palm Promenade down south...sucks that they had to cancel the showing @ AMC Mission Valley since thats much closer, and the theatre that i usually go to, but whatever's clever...gotta do my part to support, so i guess travelling down south will be worth it...well that and the chance to see her again...haha too bad she has a bf. look at me...i sound like crazy Gee and her obsession with NSTINK...but im not as bad as her. =)
carzy Nem thinks i wanna wear her shirt, but she really has it backwards...she wants to wear my shirt, but i wont let her, cuz i'm using it right now...haha =รพ well i'm gonna go finish up watching Family Ties on nick at nite and then head to sleep since i have work tomorrow. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

testing something
i'm trying something that Gennie suggested on her site...just to see if it works. she suggested that i type in the words "Regis and Kelly" just to see if random people hit up my page...so here it is, Regis and Kelly. and just in case you're wondering, i'm not desperate for hits, i just wanna see if this works....yeah yeah, i should be doing something more productive (like sleeping or studying) instead of this crazy test. i think i shall put myself to productive use, and go to sleep, since i do have 4 classes tomorrow =/...nite all...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

lost
costa verde is a very evil place, especially the garages! haha...while we were on our way to Ian's place for a talent show meeting, Brian, Moneek, and i got lost cuz we just had to park in the garage. if we had actually followed ian's directions, we prolly wouldnt have gotten lost. oh well...at least we had an adventure in costa verde...fun stuff. stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

friends
since this is my forum, i decided that i needed to discuss something thats been bothering me...if this offends people somehow, well i guess thats the way things have to be, this is how i feel right now. no names will be mentioned...but feel free to comment.
sometimes i wonder who are my real friends. thats what i have been thinking about all weekend. people who i thought have been good friends have lately been making me question whether or not they really are good friends. certain conversations ive had with certain people in APSA last week really got me thinking about this. when someone you think is a friend is going away for awhile and has a little get together to say goodbye, wouldnt you think they would invite everyone they consider a friend, including you? but then you could say that maybe they had no way of contacting you. but what if you were one of the easiest persons to get a hold of? what then? another question to ponder...wouldnt you think that other friends who know about said "get together" would talk about it openly around you instead of playing it off like its someone you dont know? or would they ask you something like "are you invited?" as if theyre surprised that you know about it? these types of things would make it seem like you're not allowed to say goodbye. with that said, i missed my opportunity to say goodbye to a friend of mine (or at least someone who i had considered a friend...but what does she consider me?) this weekend. the above said circumstances came into play last week, and as a result, i didnt feel like i was welcome to say goodbye. sound stupid? well, to me it wasnt. sometimes i feel like people who i just barely met have been better friends lately than people who i have known all throughout college. this isnt to say that im walking away from any friendships, or that other people have walked away from their friendship with me. im just questioning how they view their friendships with me, or if they value their friendships with me as i value my friendships with them. putting it in simpler terms..am i wasting my time in being their friend? i hope not. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

hands
my poor hands are all messed up...my work (for now) is having us put together computers...and the computer parts have sharp edges, so that mixed w/ the small spaces of a computer case, and the number of computers that ive had to put together (no i'm not a computer nerd, i just know how to put em together) means a lot of cuts on my hands. thats your haloHalo for the day...now it's time for me to rest up for the 4 classes that i have for tomorrow. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Robitussin works wonders
i'm feeling a bit better thanks to my special friend that i picked up at vons...robitussin you perves!!! well, the generic version of it...but it's doing pretty well in making me feel better. i am still feeling a bit sick, but not as bad as i was feeling yesterday, or even this morning...it coulda been the naps that i took in my 4 classes today, but at least im not quite as sniffly as i was before.
quote of the day: "She has a hurty boobie" -Armando talking about Jayne-Kim to the remaining APSA heads left @ the CCC after the meeting.

am i crazy?
try this...3 back to back to back 1hr 20 min classes, then have a 1 1/2 hr break, then have another 1hr 20 min class. do u know how draining that is? i do...and i did just that today...and i do that every tuesday and thursday. and did i mention that theyre all upper division classes? well they are...including HDP 110, which i added to fill in for ANLD 2, which i dropped...i told ya i would...in addition to that, im taking asian american literature, children and the media, and adolescent literature. and these classes have a lot of reading...and i do mean a lot. i just hope my brain doesnt explode! well to answer my question that i asked at the beginning...i may be crazy, but at least i only go to school on tuesdays and thursdays =รพ...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

1st day of class
1 lecture down, 19 more to go. today was my first day of class...a very interesting day. after today, i've come to the conclusion that i like 3 of my 4 classes. the class that i dont like, and am seriously thinking of dropping is ANLD2 (Anthropology)... mainly because it doesnt seem too interesting to me, and i can take another class instead next quarter. also, i dont know anybody else in the class, which isnt a good thing, especially if i decide that i dont wanna go to class one day...i wont know anyone to take notes for me, a bad thing especially since the midterm and final are based on lectures. normally that wouldnt stop me...i would just try to get to know people around me and hopefully get notes from them...but it's kinda hard to do that since i have classes right before and right after this class, so i dont really have any time to get to know anyone before or after class...and obviously i cant get to know them during class. so, chances are that i'm going to drop this class. it will drop me down to 12 units, but oh well, i'm still full time. ah well...time to sleep, no class tomorrow, but i gotta take my car in tomorrow to get the door fixed >=0. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

all good things must come to an end
whoever said that musta been a party pooper. with that said...i am sad to report that my vacation has come to an end. although it doesnt officially come to an end until tuesday when i start class (i have mondays and fridays off), i do however get to go back to work tomorrow...yay. well...what did i do to end this mostly uneventful break you might ask? well i left the country. haha...i went to tj last night w/ Ronnel and Mark, and others...although i have been to tj before, this was my first nighttime excursion to tj. i must say that it was a lot of fun, although i smelled like cigarettes by the time i got back home (7am this morning). its weird being on the freeway at that hour, just cuz the sun is rising, and everything is colored differently (and no it wasn't the alcohol, i was sober way before i crossed back over)...im just starting to notice skylines a whole lot more, just cuz i think its pretty cool to look at when the sun is at that right position where it's awestriking. ah well...enough babbling on...i gotta get some sleep...i have work tomorrow =/. well, actually i'm gonna finish watching Family Ties w/ Nem...if she ever finds her "channel clicker", and then sleep. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

another day
nothing much really has been happening, just been pretty boring...which kinda sucks cuz this should be time to be doing a whole bunch of fun stuff since school starts this monday (tuesday for me =)). i was kicked out of my house today though...not cuz i was in trouble, but because my complex is getting remodeled, and so they were recoating the entrance way. so it was either get out @ 8am in the morning, or be stuck here til 5 in the afternoon, and i didnt wanna get stranded here. so i got my bum outta bed @ 740ish, showered, and went to Joan's house and chilled there. i went to Ronnel's pad when she had to go to work. on my way home, i saw my reoccuring high school crush Liza outside her house (her house is on my way home from la jolla)...i pulled over for a bit, and we talked for a bit (i still have a crush on her everytime i see her). dropped by starbucks, then came home and started cleaning the other half of my room which i got too lazy to do earlier in the week (i still didnt finish...there's a bunch of papers and stuff on my floor). went to Friday's and ate w/ joan. that was my day...i lead an interesting life. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

tuition & work
i seriously hope i am not screwed. you see, my college tuition is paid for by the VA, since my dad is retired from the navy. but the only catch is that i can't make more than the national poverty level. the whole entire time i had been looking at my net amount that i have made in 2001 (social security & taxes taken out of my income), and it seemed like i was coming in under the limit. but then some people got me thinking that what they look at is the total amount of my income (without taxes and social security taken out)...if that's true, then i'm seriously screwed for next year..cuz i barely passed the level...meaning my calvet could be revoked for my 4th year. i seriously hope that this isnt the case. i really wish i knew which column on my paystub that i should have been looking at, cuz if i had known, then i wouldnt be having this problem. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

Another Night at the Movies
i went to the movies today w/ Alexis, one of my students from summer bridge. we had been planning to hang out for awhile now, and today was our day. so i picked her up, and we headed to Fashion Valley to see what was playing there. we ran into Kris, another one of my students, while we were looking at what was playing. we decided to watch Ocean's Eleven, and we bought our tickets. since we had about another 2 hours til the movie started, we went to grab something to eat @ Sam Woo. after we ate, we headed back to watch the movie. funny thing happened...the film broke apart right in the middle...even funnier was that it broke apart right as they were blowing something up in the movie. well, after about 20 minutes, they fixed the film, and the movie was up and running. at the end of the movie, they gave us a free pass to see any movie we wanna watch in the future.
now comes my review...this movie was basically about some guys who are plotting to rob a vault common to 3 casinos in las vegas (pretty ironic considering i just came from there). this movie goes about tracking what they plan to do, and how they carry it out. it had a lot of big time hollywood stars, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and for you Mayrin, that one dude who plays Pacey in Dawson's Creek. my mentee Maribeth recommended this movie to me, and she didnt disappoint me. i really liked this movie...it just kinda sucked how i couldnt watch the entire movie from beginning to end (since it tore up right in the middle)...but i would definitely watch this movie again. my rating...9 boba balls (out of 10).
well...i should go to sleep now, since i have to take my car in for servicing and to get my door handle and lock replaced at 830, so for now i bid all adieu...stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Best Friends
i would have to say that Chie has to be the bestest friend a guy can have. remember how someone tried to break into my car yesterday while it was parked in front of her house? well, she felt really bad about it happening. i had told her that she didnt need to worry about it...cuz it wasnt her fault. but despite my assurances to her, she still felt bad. so today, she called me on my cell to tell me that she was gonna drop by to give me something. about an hour later, she called me to tell me that she was out front. so i went and met her, and she gave me a $10 gift certificate to Jamba Juice to help me feel better. that really made my day (and my year so far)...not that she got me a jamba juice certificate, but that she got them to make me feel better. i am so lucky to have a best friend like her =)

people these days
i swear...some people have no lives. i went to lunch w/ my best friend Chie today. i went over to her house and gave her gift to her, and then we went to Pat & Oscar's for lunch in her car. so since she drove, i left my car in front of her house. well, when we got back, we noticed that the lock and door handle on the passenger side of my car had been broken. somebody had actually tried to break into my car!!! i just got my car back, and now someone tries to break into it? nothing was taken, and my car was still there, but still!!! i know theyre jealous cuz i'm driving a decent looking car and theyre prolly stuck driving some broken down POS, but that doesnt mean that they should break into my car. whoever does this needs to get a life and go out and get a job and buy them a nice car of their own. what a way to end this year!!! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages >=/

my my barona has my my money
well...since i was unable to gamble while i was in las vegas, i had this silly notion that i wanted to go gambling. so last night, Ronnel, his family, and i went to Barona casino. haha, that was a big mistake...i pretty much lost all the money that was in my wallet. let's just say...a fool and his money are soon parted, and guess who was the fool =/. i vow not to gamble again...well at least until the next time i go to barona, and the occasional lotto tickets =รพ...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

vegas vacation
and so my vegas vacation started last friday when we left san diego kinda late in the evening. we got to vegas around 1am on saturday morning and checked into the MGM Grand...pretty nice room we got...well, im still a bit too lazy to detail exactly what i did the whole week that i was there, so im just gonna list the (somewhat) more interesting things happened.
saturday
met up w/ brother and his family @ IHOP...my dad and them went to my nephew's basketball tournament
i went to my mom's house to help unpack for a bit
went back to the hotel and just chilled
sunday
went christmas shopping @ the Boulevard Mall...(note to David, this mall doesnt have a food court, but does have several affordable places to buy food.)
went to rio to eat at the buffet, but the line was too long, so went to palace station for their buffet
took my dad to see my mom's house
went to my brother's house, and played ps2 for a bit...my sister was there, which was a big surprise
monday...Christmas Eve
went last minute shopping
went to my moms house again while my dad played
picked up dad, and my brother, then went to brother's house, where my sister was still there (we thought she wasnt gonna stay longer than a day)
tuesday...Christmas Day
went to church
went to brother's house...had christmas lunch, and opened gifts
went to mom's house...had christmas dinner, and opened more gifts
spent the night at mom's house
watched Jurassic Park 3
wednesday
helped around the house as the cable guy and phone guy came to put in jacks
went to the mall to return gifts that did not fit
ate at the best thai restaurant in Las Vegas...The Kumol Kitchen
picked up aunt from airport
went back to hotel and chilled...we were supposed to go to my brother's house, but he was knocked out by the time i was free
thursday
went to eat at the new Green Valley Stationbuffet w/ my mom, dad, and aunt...mighty tasty might i say.
went to my brother's house one last time
friday
headed home
went to canes after i got home w/ Ronnel, Anthony, , and Mark...it ended too early, which sucked, especially since we paid $15 to get in =/
so that was my week in vegas...pretty interesting eh? too bad im not 21...cuz at times it sucked...but at least i was outta san diego...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

I'm Baaaaaaack!!!
i just got back from las vegas today. we stayed a day longer than i expected to stay...but it was cool (despite the pre-21 syndrome). i'll blog about my time later...but im too lazy to put down a long blog about what happened. so i'll just end here w/ a quote that i heard on the radio on the way back home...it cracked me up for some reason...
"I asked Santa for an X-Box for Christmas...and all i got was a Box with an X on it." -99.1 FM commercial

rebuttal
well it seems that i have some opposing opinions (well just 1 for now) about my review for Southcoast Plaza and the rating that i gave it. if you read David's blog, he responds to what i wrote about "his" mall. well, all i have to say about that is we all have differing opinions about what constitutes a good mall, and one of my criteria is that it has to have a good food court. one could argue that this is a high quality mall filled w/ high quality stores...but c'mon now, walking all day around a mall that huge would make anybody hungry, and i dunno bout anybody else, but i would rather spend my money in those stores than shell out a pretty penny to dine at one of those sit-down restaurants. when it comes to malls, if i get hungry, im satisfied eating a hot dog on a stick or some sort of pseudo-chinese food. although this mall does have a mcdonalds and a del taco, it lacks the choices that one would normally get from the traditional food court. so in conclusion...i shall say, you can have a mall with all the stores that you would want, but without a food court, it aint nothing. =)
well, this should be my last blog til after christmas, since leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow (today) to spend the holiday...woohoo, nothing for me to do there yet (6 1/2 months left). i shall return next thursday, so while i'm gone, make me happy and sign my guestbook =). merry christmas to all and to all a good night...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

orange county
since Aldrin, would rather blog than play me yahoo pool, i guess i'll just have to update this thing just a bit. i can't believe that i've actually been updating this thing on a semi-daily basis...enjoy it while it lasts.
so what did i do today...you may ask? well...i went to orange county with Ronnel to pick up some stuff for his car, do a lil bit of shopping, and visit some friends. the drive up there wasnt too bad (we made it there in under 2 hours), although there was this new Chevy SUV (it had paper plates) that was somehow spewing oil all over the freeway, getting on the car. well, we first went to fountain valley to pick up his car parts, and then headed to SouthCoast Plaza, supposedly the biggest shopping mall in California. well, i'll give it to them...it is huge, and there are a lot of stores there...but other than that, it wasn't all that great, due to the fact that there is no food court!!! i mean, why design "the largest mall" in California, and not put in a Food Court??? there are restaurants there, and a mcdonalds & del taco...but the restaurants are a bit pricey, and we had mcdonalds before driving up, and didnt feel like del taco...so we just grabbed some ice cream @ hagen daz. so if i were to rate this mall, i would give it 6 boba balls (out of 10)...hahaha...lost some boba due to the lack of a food court. while we were there, we visited David, as he started his first day working at Banana Republic, and then we left.
ronnel wanted to find Little Saigon so that he could buy some trance CDs. after driving around for almost an hour, we finally found it. after that, we headed over to irvine to pick up my high school friend Jen. after 3 years, i finally saw her home away from home in irvine, and i should say that it's a pretty nice place to live. after that, the 3 of us headed back over to little saigon to eat at a vietnamese restaurant, and then dropped jen back off in irvine. we were about to pull out of her complex, when jen called back to say that Rachelle was home. now rachelle was another hs buddy who i hadnt seen in a long time, so i told ronnel to turn around so i could go say hi to her, and talk with her for a bit. after we did that, we began our trek back to san diego. all in all, i'd say it was a pretty good day. good friends, good food, good music...what else do u need? a food court...haha...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

fruitcakes
since christmas is fast approaching (and Karen was bored enough to send this story to me from ABC at 345 in the morning), i thought i might post a lil bit ofthis story for your reading pleasure...
And even though it may be detested by many, the fruitcake holds many advantages over other baked varieties. All those pieces of dried fruit act like sentries — grabbing water molecules that might otherwise escape by evaporation.
Fruitcake also has high sugar content and since sugar is highly acidic, it blocks or weakens any invading bacteria that might try to form moldy layers. If the cake is spiked with brandy, all the better, since alcohol is also highly acidic and also an effective preservative.
Some even argue an old fruitcake ages and improves like a good wine over time. Barham explains the tannins inside the fruit (which are also part of the aging process of wine) eke out and mix chemically with the rest of the cake, creating new flavor compounds.
These flavor compounds, he says, become more intense and varied with time — and are all the more reason to pull that ancient fruitcake out of the freezer and reheat it.
Or ... give it to someone else.
although the thought is nice (i think), i hope i dont get any fruitcake for christmas...so for those of you reading this, dont get any ideas about getting me fruitcake for christmas, or else u know what you'll be getting next christmas...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

today we had a potluck at work, which was pretty good. what was even better was what i brought to the potluck...homemade lemon bars, from scratch. that was the first time i had ever made a dessert that did not come from a box....haha, i'm just a male version of martha stewart..yeah right, like that would actually happen. but i did really make lemon bars from scratch, and they turned out pretty good, and was popular amongst my coworkers, which was a good thing. today also marked the last day for me at work this year. i cant work anymore this year since i am quickly approaching the national poverty level, which is the limit of income that i can make for calvet. if i make more than the amount, guess who will be funding my college education? i'll give u a hint, it wont be the government. so i figure, i had better quit while i'm ahead, and just chill for the rest of the year.
other than the potluck, i just did a bit of shopping @ UTC, and then just headed home. for the most part, today was just a chill day, nothing all that spectacular happened. hopefully tomorrow will be better, since Ronnel and i will be heading to orange county to pick up some stuff, visit people, and do some christmas shopping. dont i just lead an intersting life? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

jeff at the movies
alright...it's time for something new for my blog site, a movie review. tonight, i went to amc fashion valley w/ Melissa to watch Not Another Teen Movie. this movie is to teen movies as Scary Movie is to scary movies (oh yeah...now i sound like a critic). this movie spoofed teen movies such as Pretty in Pink, Can't Hardly Wait, She's All That, Bring It On, American Pie, 10 Things I Hate About You and any other teen movie you can think of. it was funny, yet at the same time it seemed at times to try really hard to spoof specific scenes from these movies. so in effect, some scenes that were supposed to generate a laugh ended up not really being all that funny. i dont really wanna give away the plot of the movie, cuz some of you may wanna see it (if you really wanna know, go see it...or just think up all the teen movies that you have ever seen). but i will go as far as to say that i wouldnt pay to see it again. i would give this movie a rating of 4 boba balls (out of 10). keep checkin back here for ratings about upcoming (or already released) movies, and see if i give it the "Jeff seal of approval."
haha...look out Ebert, i'm now rating movies. i dont really like those paid movie critics...cuz they usually dont like the movies that end up being movies that i like. i refuse to let some fat, overpaid critic tell me whether i should or shouldnt watch a movie. i'll watch a movie whenever i feel like it...haha. so for any of you reading this, i'm not telling you wheter or not u should see this movie, i'm just expressing my opinions of it. feel free to agree or disagree with it. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

bored of boredom
i thought that i would never say this...but i wanna go back to school....hahaha, yeah right!!! i am sooooo enjoying my time off right now...well except for that one incident that happened on monday night. i dont really wanna talk about it, cuz that might make me feel not as good as im feeling right now. but i will say that i get my car back next tuesday or wednesday, so im looking forward to that. although the car that i got is somewhat pretty cool. it's a suzuki grand vitara, which is fun to drive, even though it drinks gas like its water. last quarter has been pretty good to me so far, i've gotten 2 of my 3 grades, and i am pretty satisfied with them, except 1 grade was slightly lower than i expected, but all in all, im pretty happy with my grades so far. so now, i'm just looking forward to spending some time with friends and family during the rest of the break. hopefully there are some adventures to come for the rest of the break. i know that i will be going to las vegas during christmas, but thats with family, and i can't really do anything there cuz im 7 months under the legal limit to do anything. speaking of which, my birthday is exactly 6 months and 29 days away, so gift ideas should be entertained for the big 2-1 =). well, other than that, i wanna have some adventures with some friends and do fun stuff that i can actually do during break. so hopefully, there will be some mini road-trips ahead (must get out of san diego...must get out of san diego!!!) stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

that time again
well, now that finals week has come back to haunt us, i think it's time to repost something that i posted last time finals week showed its ugly face...this was posted on 6/9/01...
Levels of finals anxiety...by Stephanie Aguon
level 1-"ha..i have finals"
level 2-"hmm...i should study..."
level 3-"they're not gonna be that bad..."
level 4-"shit, I have finals"
level 5-"I'm gonna get crapped on!"
at this point...i think im somewhere between 1 and 2...but that's subject to change as the week wears on.
my first final is tomorrow from 3-6, and i feel prepared since i spent like 15 hours at OASIS this weekend studying statistics w/ Rea, and like a few more hours studying on my own...we better ace that thing, especially since it's open note, open book...too bad the other finals aren't like that...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)
