people these days
i swear...some people have no lives. i went to lunch w/ my best friend Chie today. i went over to her house and gave her gift to her, and then we went to Pat & Oscar's for lunch in her car. so since she drove, i left my car in front of her house. well, when we got back, we noticed that the lock and door handle on the passenger side of my car had been broken. somebody had actually tried to break into my car!!! i just got my car back, and now someone tries to break into it? nothing was taken, and my car was still there, but still!!! i know theyre jealous cuz i'm driving a decent looking car and theyre prolly stuck driving some broken down POS, but that doesnt mean that they should break into my car. whoever does this needs to get a life and go out and get a job and buy them a nice car of their own. what a way to end this year!!! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages >=/

my my barona has my my money
well...since i was unable to gamble while i was in las vegas, i had this silly notion that i wanted to go gambling. so last night, Ronnel, his family, and i went to Barona casino. haha, that was a big mistake...i pretty much lost all the money that was in my wallet. let's just say...a fool and his money are soon parted, and guess who was the fool =/. i vow not to gamble again...well at least until the next time i go to barona, and the occasional lotto tickets =รพ...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

vegas vacation
and so my vegas vacation started last friday when we left san diego kinda late in the evening. we got to vegas around 1am on saturday morning and checked into the MGM Grand...pretty nice room we got...well, im still a bit too lazy to detail exactly what i did the whole week that i was there, so im just gonna list the (somewhat) more interesting things happened.
saturday
met up w/ brother and his family @ IHOP...my dad and them went to my nephew's basketball tournament
i went to my mom's house to help unpack for a bit
went back to the hotel and just chilled
sunday
went christmas shopping @ the Boulevard Mall...(note to David, this mall doesnt have a food court, but does have several affordable places to buy food.)
went to rio to eat at the buffet, but the line was too long, so went to palace station for their buffet
took my dad to see my mom's house
went to my brother's house, and played ps2 for a bit...my sister was there, which was a big surprise
monday...Christmas Eve
went last minute shopping
went to my moms house again while my dad played
picked up dad, and my brother, then went to brother's house, where my sister was still there (we thought she wasnt gonna stay longer than a day)
tuesday...Christmas Day
went to church
went to brother's house...had christmas lunch, and opened gifts
went to mom's house...had christmas dinner, and opened more gifts
spent the night at mom's house
watched Jurassic Park 3
wednesday
helped around the house as the cable guy and phone guy came to put in jacks
went to the mall to return gifts that did not fit
ate at the best thai restaurant in Las Vegas...The Kumol Kitchen
picked up aunt from airport
went back to hotel and chilled...we were supposed to go to my brother's house, but he was knocked out by the time i was free
thursday
went to eat at the new Green Valley Stationbuffet w/ my mom, dad, and aunt...mighty tasty might i say.
went to my brother's house one last time
friday
headed home
went to canes after i got home w/ Ronnel, Anthony, , and Mark...it ended too early, which sucked, especially since we paid $15 to get in =/
so that was my week in vegas...pretty interesting eh? too bad im not 21...cuz at times it sucked...but at least i was outta san diego...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

I'm Baaaaaaack!!!
i just got back from las vegas today. we stayed a day longer than i expected to stay...but it was cool (despite the pre-21 syndrome). i'll blog about my time later...but im too lazy to put down a long blog about what happened. so i'll just end here w/ a quote that i heard on the radio on the way back home...it cracked me up for some reason...
"I asked Santa for an X-Box for Christmas...and all i got was a Box with an X on it." -99.1 FM commercial

rebuttal
well it seems that i have some opposing opinions (well just 1 for now) about my review for Southcoast Plaza and the rating that i gave it. if you read David's blog, he responds to what i wrote about "his" mall. well, all i have to say about that is we all have differing opinions about what constitutes a good mall, and one of my criteria is that it has to have a good food court. one could argue that this is a high quality mall filled w/ high quality stores...but c'mon now, walking all day around a mall that huge would make anybody hungry, and i dunno bout anybody else, but i would rather spend my money in those stores than shell out a pretty penny to dine at one of those sit-down restaurants. when it comes to malls, if i get hungry, im satisfied eating a hot dog on a stick or some sort of pseudo-chinese food. although this mall does have a mcdonalds and a del taco, it lacks the choices that one would normally get from the traditional food court. so in conclusion...i shall say, you can have a mall with all the stores that you would want, but without a food court, it aint nothing. =)
well, this should be my last blog til after christmas, since leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow (today) to spend the holiday...woohoo, nothing for me to do there yet (6 1/2 months left). i shall return next thursday, so while i'm gone, make me happy and sign my guestbook =). merry christmas to all and to all a good night...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

orange county
since Aldrin, would rather blog than play me yahoo pool, i guess i'll just have to update this thing just a bit. i can't believe that i've actually been updating this thing on a semi-daily basis...enjoy it while it lasts.
so what did i do today...you may ask? well...i went to orange county with Ronnel to pick up some stuff for his car, do a lil bit of shopping, and visit some friends. the drive up there wasnt too bad (we made it there in under 2 hours), although there was this new Chevy SUV (it had paper plates) that was somehow spewing oil all over the freeway, getting on the car. well, we first went to fountain valley to pick up his car parts, and then headed to SouthCoast Plaza, supposedly the biggest shopping mall in California. well, i'll give it to them...it is huge, and there are a lot of stores there...but other than that, it wasn't all that great, due to the fact that there is no food court!!! i mean, why design "the largest mall" in California, and not put in a Food Court??? there are restaurants there, and a mcdonalds & del taco...but the restaurants are a bit pricey, and we had mcdonalds before driving up, and didnt feel like del taco...so we just grabbed some ice cream @ hagen daz. so if i were to rate this mall, i would give it 6 boba balls (out of 10)...hahaha...lost some boba due to the lack of a food court. while we were there, we visited David, as he started his first day working at Banana Republic, and then we left.
ronnel wanted to find Little Saigon so that he could buy some trance CDs. after driving around for almost an hour, we finally found it. after that, we headed over to irvine to pick up my high school friend Jen. after 3 years, i finally saw her home away from home in irvine, and i should say that it's a pretty nice place to live. after that, the 3 of us headed back over to little saigon to eat at a vietnamese restaurant, and then dropped jen back off in irvine. we were about to pull out of her complex, when jen called back to say that Rachelle was home. now rachelle was another hs buddy who i hadnt seen in a long time, so i told ronnel to turn around so i could go say hi to her, and talk with her for a bit. after we did that, we began our trek back to san diego. all in all, i'd say it was a pretty good day. good friends, good food, good music...what else do u need? a food court...haha...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

fruitcakes
since christmas is fast approaching (and Karen was bored enough to send this story to me from ABC at 345 in the morning), i thought i might post a lil bit ofthis story for your reading pleasure...
And even though it may be detested by many, the fruitcake holds many advantages over other baked varieties. All those pieces of dried fruit act like sentries — grabbing water molecules that might otherwise escape by evaporation.
Fruitcake also has high sugar content and since sugar is highly acidic, it blocks or weakens any invading bacteria that might try to form moldy layers. If the cake is spiked with brandy, all the better, since alcohol is also highly acidic and also an effective preservative.
Some even argue an old fruitcake ages and improves like a good wine over time. Barham explains the tannins inside the fruit (which are also part of the aging process of wine) eke out and mix chemically with the rest of the cake, creating new flavor compounds.
These flavor compounds, he says, become more intense and varied with time — and are all the more reason to pull that ancient fruitcake out of the freezer and reheat it.
Or ... give it to someone else.
although the thought is nice (i think), i hope i dont get any fruitcake for christmas...so for those of you reading this, dont get any ideas about getting me fruitcake for christmas, or else u know what you'll be getting next christmas...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

potlucks
today we had a potluck at work, which was pretty good. what was even better was what i brought to the potluck...homemade lemon bars, from scratch. that was the first time i had ever made a dessert that did not come from a box....haha, i'm just a male version of martha stewart..yeah right, like that would actually happen. but i did really make lemon bars from scratch, and they turned out pretty good, and was popular amongst my coworkers, which was a good thing. today also marked the last day for me at work this year. i cant work anymore this year since i am quickly approaching the national poverty level, which is the limit of income that i can make for calvet. if i make more than the amount, guess who will be funding my college education? i'll give u a hint, it wont be the government. so i figure, i had better quit while i'm ahead, and just chill for the rest of the year.
other than the potluck, i just did a bit of shopping @ UTC, and then just headed home. for the most part, today was just a chill day, nothing all that spectacular happened. hopefully tomorrow will be better, since Ronnel and i will be heading to orange county to pick up some stuff, visit people, and do some christmas shopping. dont i just lead an intersting life? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

jeff at the movies
alright...it's time for something new for my blog site, a movie review. tonight, i went to amc fashion valley w/ Melissa to watch Not Another Teen Movie. this movie is to teen movies as Scary Movie is to scary movies (oh yeah...now i sound like a critic). this movie spoofed teen movies such as Pretty in Pink, Can't Hardly Wait, She's All That, Bring It On, American Pie, 10 Things I Hate About You and any other teen movie you can think of. it was funny, yet at the same time it seemed at times to try really hard to spoof specific scenes from these movies. so in effect, some scenes that were supposed to generate a laugh ended up not really being all that funny. i dont really wanna give away the plot of the movie, cuz some of you may wanna see it (if you really wanna know, go see it...or just think up all the teen movies that you have ever seen). but i will go as far as to say that i wouldnt pay to see it again. i would give this movie a rating of 4 boba balls (out of 10). keep checkin back here for ratings about upcoming (or already released) movies, and see if i give it the "Jeff seal of approval."
haha...look out Ebert, i'm now rating movies. i dont really like those paid movie critics...cuz they usually dont like the movies that end up being movies that i like. i refuse to let some fat, overpaid critic tell me whether i should or shouldnt watch a movie. i'll watch a movie whenever i feel like it...haha. so for any of you reading this, i'm not telling you wheter or not u should see this movie, i'm just expressing my opinions of it. feel free to agree or disagree with it. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

bored of boredom
i thought that i would never say this...but i wanna go back to school....hahaha, yeah right!!! i am sooooo enjoying my time off right now...well except for that one incident that happened on monday night. i dont really wanna talk about it, cuz that might make me feel not as good as im feeling right now. but i will say that i get my car back next tuesday or wednesday, so im looking forward to that. although the car that i got is somewhat pretty cool. it's a suzuki grand vitara, which is fun to drive, even though it drinks gas like its water. last quarter has been pretty good to me so far, i've gotten 2 of my 3 grades, and i am pretty satisfied with them, except 1 grade was slightly lower than i expected, but all in all, im pretty happy with my grades so far. so now, i'm just looking forward to spending some time with friends and family during the rest of the break. hopefully there are some adventures to come for the rest of the break. i know that i will be going to las vegas during christmas, but thats with family, and i can't really do anything there cuz im 7 months under the legal limit to do anything. speaking of which, my birthday is exactly 6 months and 29 days away, so gift ideas should be entertained for the big 2-1 =). well, other than that, i wanna have some adventures with some friends and do fun stuff that i can actually do during break. so hopefully, there will be some mini road-trips ahead (must get out of san diego...must get out of san diego!!!) stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

that time again
well, now that finals week has come back to haunt us, i think it's time to repost something that i posted last time finals week showed its ugly face...this was posted on 6/9/01...
Levels of finals anxiety...by Stephanie Aguon
level 1-"ha..i have finals"
level 2-"hmm...i should study..."
level 3-"they're not gonna be that bad..."
level 4-"shit, I have finals"
level 5-"I'm gonna get crapped on!"
at this point...i think im somewhere between 1 and 2...but that's subject to change as the week wears on.
my first final is tomorrow from 3-6, and i feel prepared since i spent like 15 hours at OASIS this weekend studying statistics w/ Rea, and like a few more hours studying on my own...we better ace that thing, especially since it's open note, open book...too bad the other finals aren't like that...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)
