note to self
Dear Jeff,
Don't let anybody take away who you are. Just because you are a nice guy doesn't mean you're a bad guy. Nobody will step all over you because you are who you are and seem to be too nice for your own good. Stay true to your ownself and you will win out in the end. Just because one person doesn't appreciate your nice guy demeanor doesn't mean someone else won't. You will find a nice girl who will sweep you off your feet, and you will sweep her off her feet. Things will be all good in the end. Above all, stay positive and things will fall into place. You've made it this far, just keep going.
You will not FAIL!
Yours Truly,
Jeff

Quick Update
just got back from having thanksgiving in vegas. i actually drove my car there...first time i ever took my car out of the state. and the big news about the trip...it was actually a pleasant visit, with no bickering amongst the family! i know! i can't believe it...everybody got along
a few drawbacks though...
-i caught a cold on tuesday night, and was feeling it throughout the entire trip
-tom's dad was taken to the hospital with liver issues...hopefully things go well with him
-i lost $40...but that $40 was distributed throughout 8 hours of playing...4 hours on thanksgiving night, and 4 hours on friday night...so not too bad!
next up...lake tahoe next weekend! going there to celebrate Leia's 27th birthday which is on December 1. I'll be there from December 4-7. it will be my 2nd time there. this time around, it should be a bit more fun since the last time i was there was with someone's family. that was fun too, but i did not have as much freedom as i will have next week =)

reliving the past
so i was looking at my archives just curious to see what was on my mind back when i blogged more often. so i looked at the 2002 archives, since that was the year that i had the most blogs. a couple of things that i noticed about those days are that i am in the same boat back then that i am in now...loveless and jobless. i was also very vague in my descriptions of the girl drama that i was going through. referring to the offending party in the 3rd person. today, 6 years later...i find myself remembering some of that drama, but not the names. i think the main reason why i did that was either because i was worried that the girl i was describing would read this blog and know what i was thinking, or i was worried that my friends would know who she was and then question either me or her about that particular situation. haha...i did that same thing with yesterday's blog. looking back at those days, i now think...who cares? this is my blog, i can do whatever i want with it. so as a final reference to the past year and a half of my personal life that i mentioned in yesterday's blog, and for future reference when i look at this particular entry 6 years from now...ana and i broke up, she's now with my former friend chris. no more mention of that situation shall be said.
i think the thing i am most disappointed in is the fact that my demeanor hasn't changed much from those days. i'd like to say that i've grown mentally since then, but my attitude towards the personal aspects of my life still remain the same. honestly, i think what i really need to do is to stop being so passive, and be a little more aggressive towards my own personal pursuits. i'm already being aggressive with my professional life (ie, applying to grad school so i can pursue a career that i like), why not be more aggressive with searching for that special someone?
actually...i should just chill in that regard. i don't need to rush into anything right now. there really isn't anything to rush into. nobody that special exists in my life. so i should just have fun. hmm...maybe i should do this again! haha

the resurrection of haloHalo Happenings
after a year and a half I have decided to come out of a blog semi-retirement. so why did i go on a hiatus? maybe a bunch of reasons, but i guess the main thing was laziness. a lot of things have happened since i last blogged...and i'm not just talking about drew carey being the new host of price is right. to be honest, the last year and a half has been very...well not so enjoyable. i guess the only thing that has kept me sane has been my friends. in a way, some of my "friends" (note the "s) have been the cause of the craziness that had been happening in my life. i think the biggest disappointment i have experienced in the past year and a half has been being stabbed in the back by someone i thought was a good friend of mine. not to dwell on what happened, but i lost a special presence in my life to this so called friend. yeah, sucks big time...but i did learn a lot from this experience and this heartbreak (trust me, it was a big heartbreak). the worst part of this learning experience i think was that i had to learn how to trust people again. i still trust my friends, but it's not the blind type of trust that i used to have. people now have to earn my trust.
so while i lost some friends, and someone who i would have to say that i was in love with, i have gained a new circle of friends to go along with a certain few friends who i have known for several years. this set of people has made this experience a bit more bearable, and have helped me to move on from this heartbreak. i don't think they have any idea how appreciative i am of them. so if one of you happens to read this, thank you!
well...that was my personal life in a nutshell over the past year. my professional life has not been much better. i believe the last time i was blogging, i was laid off of my job at homecomings financial. i got hired by a company called five point capital and worked there for about a year and a half before getting laid off about 3 weeks ago. yeah, so i'm back in the same boat that i was in before. but i'm going to take this time as an opportunity to go back to school. i really want to do the CBB program. so hopefully i will be able to get into this program and use it to do something i have been wanting to do, instead of doing something just to get paid.
yeah, if you actually read through all that nonsense, then you are a true fan of the haloHalo. let's see if i actually go back to regularly maintain this for you haloHaloholics.
hmm...how do i usually end this thing?
oh yeah...
stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages =)

quick bits
i decided to post a somewhat insightful blog about what has been going on in my life....read on!
-still unemployed...but making progress...only thing getting in the way right now is that i am on call for jury duty for at least the next week, or until they call me in.
-i am enjoying my bum status for now...but gotta pay the bills
-Summer Bridge reunion this weekend...not sure if i'm excited to go (not really wanting to mention my unemployment status with other who have most likely moved on to more exciting things...also a bit disappointed with some people about the organization of the event)
-just went through the clickages on the right side...more than half of the links are either no longer valid, or the people have abandoned their blogs (some havent written in them since 2005!)
-been thinking about my future...decided that if i don't find a job to my liking and that i would see myself devoting my career to it, i will go back to school in 2008 to get my masters degree.
-several friends getting married, having children, and having amazing careers...yes i'm unemployed
-positive thing about being unemployed is not having to answer to any boss
-extremely happy being with ana for the past 2 1/2 years...amazed that she puts up with me...she is very amazing, and i'm not sure what i would do without her (the mushy side of me comes out!)
-extremely annoyed with the stubbornness (and sometimes hypocritical nature) of my mother in the way she views our family
-i need to lose some weight...but laziness prevails...but not for long!
ok...i think that's it. hopefully my 2 faithful readers out there will have enjoyed this bit of randomness. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

it's a small world...
i was reading through Reggie's xanga and saw a picture of him and my friend Lily out celebrating his birthday. (Lily's in green, and Reggie is wearing the blue striped shirt). I just thought about how crazy it is that my friend from high school (Lily) and my friend from college (Reggie) who did not know each other this time last year...are now somewhere in the middle of the carribean, half a world away...and learning to be doctors together. meanwhile, i'm still in san diego...doing the same job that i was doing a year ago. they are both in a beautiful place learning how to do what they want to do...and i'm still here, doing a job that i thought i would never do. hmm...go figure

kinda plain
for now...i got tired of that watery stuff, so i just got rid of the background. when i am more motivated, i'll do something somewhat creative.
on a side note...anybody watch the Padres game tonight where they came back from losing 5-0 to the Nationals...to winning 8-5? i was frustrated by the score that i went to the movies, only to find out that they won! GO PADRES!

what have i been up to?
i know i know...all you loyal readers have been waiting for this for...well since august 8th. well...i've just been too lazy to write my thoughts and random stuffs down on here. what i can tell you is that what i have been up to is nowhere as crazy as the people of Louisiana, Mississippi (yes i spelled it correctly), and Alabama have been up to with Hurricane Katrina. it's surreal to see that stuff on TV and the devastation that these people have faced/are facing. I've spoken to a lot of people affected at work (on the phone), and just listening to their stories are really...i dunno of a word to put to it...but you can prolly understand how crazy it's been for them. i cant imagine 4 stories of water coming in on me, and i hope i never have to. and the people taking advantage of the situation by hiking up the price of everyday items *ahem*gas*ahem* is inexcuseable (unexcusable?) i digress...
so what have i been up to you ask? same ol stuff...nothing but the grind of work, and coming home to relax. i did go to vegas this past weekend to surprise my parents. and yes they were surprised. but driving there was not so fun...not the actual drive itself, but the price of gas (see above) made my wallet unhappy. hmm...what else? eh...i dunno, maybe i should have blogged when it happened...oh well. oh btw...before i forget...
oops! =/
i shall return (when? we'll see)...stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

a quickie
how long has it been since i've marqueed a birthday wish on my blogger to someone...ahh the old days when i blogged like 3-4 times a week. but then again, that was also when i had more to report about my days. i did get to go to the beach yesterday for the first time this year...it was a good turnout with quite a few people showing up at la jolla shores (other than the millions of people already at the beach). Richard (the new roomie) came, along with Mohan and his crew, Aldrin w/ his girlfriend Emily, and Ana. it was a nice day, but the waves sucked so i couldnt really boogie board too much...and i saw a jelly fish in the water, so that scared the shit out of me...i didnt want to get stung!
i have no plans for the upcoming 4th of july that is tomorrow (grammar schammar). i never have plans, i just usually go with the flow until the fireworks at night. and my 1 year anniversary at work is coming up this wednesday. can you believe i stayed this long? especially since i was hating it earlier this year. i guess it's not too bad anymore, although you kinda have to know how to play the politics in the office.
well..since i opened this post with a birthday wish, i shall end this with a birthday reminder. a person you and i both know will be celebrating his 24th birthday in a few days (9 to be exact). dont forget to stop by the store and pick up something nice ;) he likes the color blue! oh and he will be having a bbq at his house to celebrate on the 16th. y'all better be there!

wow...
long time no post...something like 2 months? yeah, i have been neglecting on my updates. i guess i've been lazy. what has happened over the last 2 months? hmm...let me see...
in no particular order...

just an observation
while reading blogs just now...i find it funny how my friend who has 2 blogs can say something in 1 blog and then turn around and say something completely contradictory in the other blog, and only a day apart. not a gripe...just an observation...makes me smile. you know who you are =) stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

just a thought
but does anybody still read this thing? i'm not writing this for an audience, but i still do wonder if anybody reads this. especially after all the breaks i take from writing in here and the lack of real updates. if you do...thanks. if you dont...well i guess i dont need to say anything cuz most likely youre not reading this.
so what's new with me you ask? nothing really. just tired of my job as usual. i do have a few more responsibilities at work so that makes work a little bit more exciting, but the micromanagement structure still exists...almost like the employees in my department are little children who cant make decisions for themselves. the newest thing theyre doing is a scorecard where every minute is being scored, and if we stay on task 97% of the time in a day...we'll get a good rating. 95% is a decent rating...and anything below that is not satisfactory. now there are some exceptions (like employee asistance, or computer malfunctions), but things like unscheduled pee breaks for like 2 minutes and unscheduled days off (if we call in sick) count against us. this company is making it increasingly difficult for me to want to make it to my 1 year mark before i quit. their justification is that we need to meet business needs and we are obligated to our customers to be at our desks every single minute that we are in the office. honestly, the health of my bladder, and the safety of my sanity are not worth some of the people i deal with. if i have to pee, i have to pee, and i'm gonna go pee, and some deadbeat daddy in alabama is not gonna stop me, and neither is my boss's boss's boss. you would think the higher ups in my company would get the clue when there are 15+ openings and a supervisor position open in my department...i guess they dont cuz they keep getting stricter with our time.
there are only 2 things worth staying there. the people, and the pay. the people i work with are great, and they help keep my sanity (well, except for a couple of annoying people..but that's another blog). the pay is also pretty good for a starting level job...and it pays my bills well. but those 2 things can only go so far.
aren't you glad you don't work where i work? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =/

Top 3 Grad school options for when i go back to school
so i plan on going back to school in fall of 2006...most likely to SDSU. here are the top programs that i am interested in...in no particular order...
1. Masters in Education and Student Affairs...i think i would enjoy working with students, specifically college students, outside of the classroom and being involved with student life
2. Masters in Education in Multi-Cultural Counseling (via the Community Based Block @ SDSU). my roommate Chris is going thru that right now, and i know a lot of alumni. it seems like an intriguing process which will allow me to grow interpersonally. going hand in hand with my old job as an ATC @ UCSD.
3. Masters in Education and Secondary Instruction (emphasis in Biology). my original plans for after i graduated from UCSD. those plans got put on the backburner because i didnt meet certain requirements to get into a program that i wanted to. i've been wanting to be a high school teacher for the past 5 years.
if you notice...all of my potential programs deal with education. i definitely cannot continue with my current job. it's driving me crazy, and not what i pictured myself doing with my life. i want to make a difference in peoples lives...not in the pocketbook of a big company like the one i currently work for. i'm tired of trying to meet "business needs" of my company. especially in the department i work for...it feels like theyre treating us like children...and it's the freakin entry level position of the company. i dont like the fact that we are pretty much being timed for what we do. i suppose i'd be alright with it if they gave us an incentive to adhere to their time restraints...but the bonus and incentives were recently cut as they adopted these timing standards.
well...this blog got longer than i planned for it. must shower so i can adhere to my schedule for work...wouldnt wanna be late. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

i wonder
how many people will be reading this blog as a form of procrastination from finals. right now as i type this, thousands of ucsd students are studying for them dreaded finals...something i am not currently worrying about. i like the feeling of not pulling all nighters, caffeinating my blood, and camping out at CLICS. funny thing is...part of me misses it...a small part of me, not that big...but still a part. although i am not a student anymore...i am celebrating spring break next week. i scheduled an entire week off of work next week, so i'll be a bum just like the rest of ya ucsd students. so what do i have planned you might ask? (you may not have asked it...but i'll answer it for you)...i'm flying up to San Francisco and i'm gonna be a tourist. you see...i've only been up there 1 time in 2003, and that was for 36 hours with 11 other people who had different yet similar agendas...so i didnt really get to look around where i wanted to look and go. so for a few days, i'll be doing that. also i'm gonna catch up on some sleep and rest that i don't get from work (remember, i'm not a fan of my job). and i may do some other odds and ends, maybe even redesign this blog. it definitely will not be a cheap week for me, but i suppose a bit of fun will make it worth it. i know i will definitely be dreading March 28th when i have to go back to work...but so will all you bum students who will be going back to school as well. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

so sore
from playing APSA alumni/undergrad sports day. we pretty much had a reunion of sorts today @ muir field @ ucsd. our goal...to defeat the undergrads at a few games of sports. first off, we played basketball and handily defeated the youngins in a nice game of 21. this day also marked my first time back on the courts since high school days when i constantly got injured. i didnt make much of an impact, however i did have 2 steals...but i also had 2 giveaways...but i suppose that's pretty good considering i havent played since i was 15 (other than a few shootaround games, nothing too serious...do the math 23(my age now)-15(the age when i last played ball)=8...so i did pretty well considering. the point is...undergrads won. we played dodgeball as well...basically the oldies lost bad...but we were greatly outnumbered, so we had a few of the older undergrads join us to make it a lil more even...but i think they sabotaged our game so the youngins could win...but that's just me. another game of bball was brewin while we were playing dodgeball, and from what i hear the grads won that game as well. finally we got together to play a rousing game of soccer. i didnt play too much, but i hear the grads slaughtered the undergrads so much that the game became a mixed game. i joined to play the final 20 or so minutes as a goalie. all in all...good times were had as i caught up with so many familiar faces from my times in APSA. but as i said at the beginning of this...i'm sore! must get more active on a regular basis to be less sore.
last night was also APSA talent show. like i said in the last blog...it was weird being a spectator...but i held back my nostalgia and took in the show (i didn't even help put away the chairs after the show was over =p) the show was pretty well done...although it would have been better if tech had been on their game...there were so many technical difficulties, the show lagged on longer than planned.
sometimes i miss college life...but then i remember...no extra work for me when i get home! but i do plan on going back to school....after at least another year off to work...fall of 2006 is the plan.
i stink from today...must shower...maybe the heat will make me less sore...maybe. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

Back to the Future: Part X
aka. APSA Talent Show is tonight. this will be my first talent show since i graduated, and the first one ever that i'll be watching as a spectator. usually i've been behind the scenes on the show and have never really watched it from the seats before. let's see how APSA: the next generation does this. oh yeah and alumni/undergrad sports day is tomorrow...i'm gonna go to that too. yeah! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

gripe about work
so at work today, my supervisor emails me that i wasn't productive enough on friday, and that my results show that my customer time on the phone was less than my personal & after customer work time combined. excuse me for helping other co-workers out with their issues which took me away from the phone and added to my after customer work time...if there were other supervisors around to assist then my actual productivity would have been increased...but since the more senior people decided play hookey because it was the day before a 3 day weekend and there were no supers were available, i had to assist my coworkers! i should be praised for being of assistance instead of being scolded for not being productive enough. it's not like i spent my time surfing the internet or staring off into the distance and picking my nose. i too could have called in sick or something like that...but i actually showed up for work. >end gripe<

it's raining...
it's pouring, and i gots me no work tomorrow...time to sleep in and not do anything tomorrow. maybe i'll do my laundry...maybe...hmm...maybe not! =p maybe i'll concoct something in the kitchen like i did tonight. i made me some Jack Daniel's steak...TGI Fridays ain't got nothin on what i made. i bought the sauce, but found that it contained no Jack, so i corrected that problem. but i can't take all t he credit...i must give partial credit to Mr. George Foreman himself, for allowing me the usage of his ever so famous grill, you sir added that extra grilling touch my Jack Daniel's steak needed. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

So i blog some more
I forgot to mention this...but happy 71st birthday to my dad...i know you'll prolly never read this, but i hope you have a great one, even though i wont be celebrating with you. he was supposed to come to sd this weekend to celebrate with me, but this on again/off again rain we keep getting cancelled his plans. it woulda been perfect for him to drive down too, since he has a rental car (a motorcycle hit the side of his car last week and ran off without sharing his contact and insurance info)
In other news...this is a 3 day weekend for me...my office so graciously gave us president's day off this coming monday, and then on tuesday i work from 11-9, with an hour of extra overtime. yeah, my schedule at work is differernt, ever since they put us on a rotating schedule...so basically some weeks i come in at 8 and stay til 5...some weeks i do the 9-6, 10-7, or 12-9 thing...and when i do the 12-9 week, they make us come in on sunday of that week, but i was able to trade...so next saturday, i'm working instead of next sunday. sucks doesnt it? oh well, what can i do...it's not like i can complain about it...we already tried, but the company overruled us and said that we need to meet "business needs." i don't see how rotating people's schedules is more convenient to the company than just having straight schedules with people staying in their respective shifts...what do i know, i'm just an employee.
so...what do i have planned for this weekend? nothing too exciting...the weather is really limiting things that i can do. i have been wanting to go shopping for some new shoes...but i havent been able to find a pair that i would want at a somewhat decent price. why am i being so cheap? i got a job that pays pretty well! i suppose it's because i dont like overspending on something i could prolly find at a cheaper price elsewhere. just cuz i'm working doesnt mean that i want to throw away my money. besides, i'm planning on putting a spoiler on my car maybe sometime this week...something i've always wanted, and i figure that now is the time to do it.
hmm...what to do during spring break...i scheduled time off from work at the same time UCSD has their spring break, so what am i gonna do? as of right now, i'm not too sure. i had wanted to go to the bay area to explore it, but i'm not too sure how that will play out for now. any suggestions? anyone?
wow...i'm actually updating this thing...we'll see how long this motivation to blog will last. i'm kinda considering changing the background...i've had this one for awhile, and i'm getting tired of it. ok...enough blogging, i shall return later. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

hmm...what to do during spring break...i scheduled time off from work at the same time UCSD has their spring break, so what am i gonna do? as of right now, i'm not too sure. i had wanted to go to the bay area to explore it, but i'm not too sure how that will play out for now. any suggestions? anyone?
wow...i'm actually updating this thing...we'll see how long this motivation to blog will last. i'm kinda considering changing the background...i've had this one for awhile, and i'm getting tired of it. ok...enough blogging, i shall return later. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

2005
whoa...it has been awhile. almost a month into 2005, and this is my first blog of the year?!?!?! this has to be the longest that i've gone without blogging since i first started blogging in 2001. so why the hiatus? to be honest...i dont have an answer. i guess you could say a bunch of different reasons: laziness, repetition of my routine, nothing to say, no need for blogging as a procrastination activity, not wanting to be on a computer after sitting at one 40 hours a week...pick one, or make up your own. does this mean the end of halohalo happenings? perhaps not...more than likely no, but i know that there is nothing noteworthy going on in my life, and so my blogs will be not quite as frequent, at least for now. and as for the highlights of 2004...you'll just have to wait until my next blog...hopefully sometime this week. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

a year ago today
it was the pretty much the end of 2003. well...today is pretty much the end of 2004, only new year's eve left, and then 2005. how did this year go by so fast? it seems like each year goes faster and faster, never seeming to slow down. so many things happened this year both good and bad...but i must say that 2004 was much better for me personally than 2003. normally this blog entry (the final one of the year) would be my year in review blog, but that will have to be saved for my first blog entry of 2005, because i want to go clean my room up a little bit and get ready to go to vegas to meet up with the roomies (sans Marvin). i want my room to be somewhat clean for the new year, so it's good to go when i get back from vegas. so for now i shall wish you all a happy and safe new year, see ya in 2005! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

sick
so my roommate got me sick. i hate being sick...who doesnt. but since i'm sick, i decided to call in sick at work. so for today, i'm gonna be a lazy bum and just sleep my sickness away. sucks that i have to use my paid time off (which is a combo of vacation and sick time). it's not like college days where i could just ditch school when i felt like it. but then again, if i were still in college and i were sick right now, it would be in the middle of finals...which definitely is not a good thing. well..imma go back to my warm bed with a cup of hot tea. germs watch out...stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =/

as you may have noticed...
i have not been blogging too much. nothing really has been going on in my life. i just do the work thing, and come home and hang out with a few friends and repeat. sometimes i wonder if i will stick to this routine, or change. lately i've been thinking about what i do and if i want to stay with it, or go back to what i originally planned for myself, and become a teacher. personally, that is a goal that i have for myself, but is it financially viable for me? i have rent to pay, a car to pay for, bills, and starting in january, my undergraduate student loans. if i were to go back to school for my credential, i wont have an income to pay for my bills, and to add to that, i wont have calvet to pay for tuition because the money that i am making at my current job disqualifies me for consideration. at the same time, i see the changes that are being made within my company and how stricter they are becoming in terms of getting the results that my job requires. this job is definitely not something i had planned on doing, and i am not sure if i can continue working here for the rest of my life. don't get me wrong, i like many of the people that i work with, and it is not too hard of a job, but is it me? time will tell where i end up. crossroads...
thanksgiving is on thursday, and i'm heading to Las Vegas tomorrow morning. my friend Ana is accompanying me for the trip, since she can't go home to Oakland. i figured that since she would be down here by herself, why not bring her along. besides, company is always nice on a long road trip. i'm getting a rental car because i dont wanna put miles on my car. btw...people who throw rocks at moving cars suck! no further comment on that =x
well, enough of my random ramblings...my entries will be off and on since i am not in school anymore, and i dont need to procrastinate by blogging here. hopefully my loyal and adoring fans will continue reading...and if not, oh well...happy thanksgiving...stay tuned, we'll be back after these messages %=)

Stupid Cingular/AT&T!
just got my bill, and it's for $767!!! i have never gone over my bill on any of my cellphones that i have ever had, and now this?!??!!?!? so it looks like they stopped crediting me for any of my minutes as paid or free nights & weekends on october 12, and just charged me $.40 a minute i used until the end of my billing cycle. i guess that means i will be paying them a happy phone call tomorrow morning....i wish their system wasnt down, i would call them right now (which i did when i saw my bill)
election day...bush is leading...why? enough said...

insert vegas post here
ok, so last weekend I went to vegas w/ Rosanna, Shelby, MarkChelle, Gee, and Kris to celebrate Nem's 21st birthday. wow, can't believe that she's reached legality...carziness! we left at 4am in the buttcrack of morning on friday morning in 2 separate cars. then headed over to riverside to pick up Shelby's brother's van. from there we went journeyed towards vegas...but not before stopping a couple of times, the first to put more air in the tires cuz we were too fat, especially w/ 8 people and their bags in a 7 person van...and the next stop in Baker to see the world's largest thermometer...how exciting! got to vegas around 10am and checked into Excalibur. for the rest of the day we just lazed around and ate, while Nem dropped the kids off at the pool...TWICE!!! at night we headed to Studio 54@ MGM for the evening.
the next day, i hung out w/ my mom while the others played and shopped. after that, i went back to the room to meet up w/ some of the others. we then headed out to walk the strip.
the next day, we checked out and they dropped me off at my mom's house while they chilled w/ Kris's parents. after that, headed back to SD.
it was fun...not quite the vegas experience i was expecting...especially w/ the half nekkid dude @ 54, but still quite fun. next vegas trip w/ friends...new year's eve. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

last day of the week
so i took tomorrow off of work. why you may ask? well, i'm heading to las vegas! gonna celebrate carzy Nem's 21st birthday...yup she's getting to be an old fart. so since they want to leave at...*insert face of disgust here* at 4am in the buttcrack of morning, i decided to take tomorrow off...my first day off from that place (other than weekends) since i started working there. i'm quite excited...my first mini-vacation pretty much all year. i didnt even get to enjoy a vacation after i graduated from college, especially since my lovely civic was stolen the night i graduated. after that happened, i worried about finding a job to be able to finance a new car. once i got the job, i never took time to take a break from it all, since i didnt have any days in which i could have taken off...until now. next goal...take a real vacation and go to hawaii! anybody want to go w/ me? i hope to go around spring break or beginning of summer next year. who's down? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

so i figure that it's time for another post
after all, it is the end of the month and i havent blogged since like the middle of the month. how many of you have missed my random ramblings? eh...prolly not too many, but oh well. so what is new with yours truly? nothing really, just the same ol stuff. work, home, work, home...and i'm gaining weight. doing the same ol routine and not being too physically active adds poundage to my physique, and that is definitely not a good thing. i seriously want to start going to the gym, but the routine of going to work, and then going home has become common place to me, and im not feeling much like deviating from it...but i should...and i will, just lead me the way to the nearest 24 hour fitness, so i can sign up.
in other news, we got a new roommate to replace mr. abanilla, who left at the end of august. mr. Marvin Tarroja is the newest member of the Cord Lane household...a huge load off of all our backs. we were worried that we wouldnt fill that room, or that we would get some random person move in. so now the only thing to worry about is finding a new washer and getting our oven fixed.
so i have been watching the san diego padres all season long, and they have been doing really well this whole season. theyve had their first winning season in like 5 years...that's a good thing...sucky though that despite all the winning they have been doing, they havent done enough, and chances are that they will not be going to the playoffs. they had a chance, but they lost to sf tonight...so they dont have too much more of a chance. let's hope that next year they will do better.
friday is tomorrow...meaning the weekend is just about here!!! i may actually go back to ucsd tomorrow to see the fall fest @ rimac...dilated peoples and jimmy eats world are performing. let's just hope they accept my id card, after all i did graduate...they dont swipe the cards, and there is no date on the card, so i should be alright right? right! well...i must prepare for bed and watch fresh prince of bel air...it's friday tomorrow! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

i'm back once again
so i haven't updated in awhile...as i havent been doing too much of this summer. but as always, nothing has been happening. well...i take that back, we did have an end of summer/house rewarming bbq get together this past saturday. pretty good turn out as a buncha ucsd, hs, and work folk showed up to join in on the festivities. good meat, good drinks, good people, good times.
so lately, i've been going to church a lot. i guess it's not that i'm gonna be this devout catholic who reads the bible on a nightly or semi-nightly basis. i guess, it just feels good to go back to church and take in all of the Godliness of the whole thing. this used to be a regular thing for me...mind you not by choice, but because my mom made me. but i guess, despite being "forced" to go, i liked it inside...and i guess for awhile, i forgot about that aspect. so i started going to church again when i moved out on my own. not because i was forced to go, but because it was my choice...and i must admit, it feels good to go back and soak it all in. it's also a good thing to see people that i havent seen in awhile, some of whom were in my early CCD classes that i took in elementary school. needless to say, i'm enjoying coming back to church.
work is work...nothing's changed there...although it's nice to expand my networks by meeting new people around the department each day. i'm glad i've been able to break my shell to meet these new people. it's also interesting to see the new people go through what i went through 2 months ago in training. one of the newbies went to mira mesa high school, and graduated a year before me. he's one of those people who i would see, but didn't know on a personal basis...but he's on my work team...so i'll prolly get to know him a bit better.
speaking of work...time to sleep, so i can get up to go to work tomorrow. i'm getting old, and becoming more of an adult! sleeping early used to be unheard of...now it's a way of life. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

It's September already?!?!?!?!!
wow...this year is moving by really fast. i havent really updated this thing in awhile, cuz really nothing has been going on. My daily routine consists of waking up at 7am, showering, getting dressed, going to work, come home, try to do the errands that i needed to do that day, fix/eat dinner, relax, iron for the next day, go to sleep, repeat. i feel so adult for some reason. but now in addition to all that i do in a day, lately we have been looking for a new roommate cuz Armando moved out last weekend, so i've been trying to move along the process to find a #4 for the house. other than that, it's been normal routine.
so rumor has it that UCSD is starting school in a couple of weeks. it feels kinda weird that i am not getting ready to go back to school as has been my normal routine around this time for the past 18 years. this year's opening day of school will not be one that i will be celebrating since i have graduated from college. part of me misses the routine of getting ready for school, reuniting w/ friends i havent seen in 3 months, welcome week festivities, and even the first day of school where it's just a kickback day of intros and expectations. but alas...none of that will be had by me, since i am a working man w/ a degree. speaking of which...where's my diploma??? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

amazing race
ok ok...i'm not really one to watch reality shows other than mtv's real world...but i have to admit that i am hooked on amazing race. the way they build it up and the tasks that they have to perform make for a good story line that i wanna follow. i really like the midget and her cousin, but they got eliminated tonight. so now my next favorite is chip and kim, the "token" black people on the show. they got first place tonight. i just want the dating people...the ones who helped to eliminate the midget...to get eliminated.
another show that i watch, but not quite as interested in is big brother... i dont really know the story line as well cuz there are like 3 shows a week, and i cant/dont watch em all. but the game play on that show is pretty interesting, as well as the drama thats going on.
work is cool...i, along with the rest of my department are getting paid to go to the del mar horse races tomorrow. we still have to work 1/2 day, but after that...we're going to the races. my work is paying for the ticket, food, and drinks. i must say that i'm lucky to have landed this job. ok...i think i've updated this thing enough for now...my energy is going away. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

i really think i should update this thing
and i know i said that i would, but i just dont have the energy to do it right now. its not that im energy drained, cuz its not really that. i just dont feel like sitting here typing out every thing that has been going on in my life lately. dont worry, i'm still gonna update this thing every now and then, i just wont really be updating much about my life...at least not this week (unless i find the energy to). i will say though that i am enjoying living on my own, although it's weird to visit home. it's also weird to know that home will also be up for sale starting tomorrow. 10 years in that place...ahh the memories. well, time to make new memories...away from home. stay tuned we'll be back after these messages =T

so tired
been moving in to my new place all day. uhaul sucks...they put me on the waiting list for a truck, and said they would call to lemme know my status. by 330, i was wondering what was going on, so i called their number...was on hold for way over an hour. went over to the uhaul on camino ruiz and miralani, waited in a long line, and when i finally got to the front, the guy was being a jerk by saying that he couldnt find my name, he then asked for my confirmation #, but i had forgotten that at home...so he told me to come back. so i went home to get it, and came back. almost didnt get a truck, cuz my rsvp was lost in the system somewhere and they didnt have any trucks for me. but since the 2nd guy was the manager, he hooked it up and gave me a truck. many thanks to EllenMae & Mohan who helped me pack and haul my crap over to my new home. k...i'm gonna shower and sleep now...so tired. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages ++

moving
in this coming weekend to my new humble abode just ~6 blocks away from here. i'm pretty excited bout moving, but im not excited about moving. lemme explain...i'm looking forward to moving out on my own, but i dont wanna do the actual physical moving that is involved. in a way, i kinda screwed myself by waiting til today to reserve a u-haul for saturday. i'm on the waiting list for one, so hopefully one becomes available on saturday afternoon. i dont really have all that much to transport over that is heavy...just my bed, dresser, and big screen tv that my dad is giving me....but i still need a u-haul to move it. i'm so much of a mover procrastinator that i havent even really started packing. i really dont need to pack and move all my stuff right away, cuz i can always come back and get the rest of it anytime i want. point is...i dont wanna move my stuff! i'm kinda also gonna miss my room...i've lived here for 10 years...kinda hard not to get bittersweet about it. oh well...i'm finally moving out on my own. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

sofa king hot
my room is like an oven, and has been that way all day...actually its been that way all week...thankfully i havent really felt it this week cuz ive been in an air conditioned building at work. despite that, id rather have spent my time at the beach...but oh well, i'm making money. speaking of which, i got my first paycheck yesterday! woohoo, i really needed the money. but hey, anybody wanna go to the beach w/ me? the weather is perfect for it...lemme know. but i can only go after 5pm m-f and on weekends cuz of work, so yeah...let's go...
sorry for the last post i made...of course it was my bday and i was soooo out of it. it was a really fun night, thanks to all of you who celebrated w/ me. i definitely paid for it the next day while i was at work. i was feeling the effects of my bday...and my co-trainees knew it. ah well, you only turn 23 once right? so i'm supposed to be in vegas this weekend, but was forced to change the trip to a different weekend, cuz pretty much everybody who was supposed to go backed out. sorry Aldrin for cancelling it so suddenly on you, i'll make it up to you when we go....he was the only person who could go out of the 4 others who were supposed to go. i really wanna go w/ a bunch of friends, so if anybody wants to go...lemme know...
im off in the search of cool and an ice cream cone...as the title says, it's sofa king hot! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

do you smell that???
yes, that is the smell of an old fart. i am now 23 yrs old as of today...meaning one thing, my mother gave birth to me 23 yrs ago, making today my birthday. for some reason, i do not feel any older and i definitely did not look forward to turning another year older. 22 was a nice age for me...last year of college, i was a academic transition counselor to 6 great guys, which was a major goal for me throughout my ucsd career, i dealt with love life issues, and of course, i graduated from ucsd...i was quite content with that age. but with 23 comes a whole lot more in terms of entering the real world. graduating college as a 22 year old means entering the workforce as a 23 year old. also, i will be moving out at the end of this month for the first time in my life (unless u count the 4 summer bridges i was a part of). basically, i really have to become an adult. yeah yeah, i became an adult @ age 18, but i just prolonged non-adult life for an extra 5 years as i proceeded through college life, and now i am faced with the reality of life. but that is a part of growing up. thank you everybody for your birthday wishes...they really put a smile on my face. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

nothing to really say
but hi! this is a boring post to keep my faithful readers entertained with something from me.
went to oasis today for a visit, and to pick up a summer bridge application for my cousin. i also drove by argo hall. both were sharp reminders that i will not be a part of summer bridge this year. i really wish i had gotten hired as a senior staff member for this year, but i guess it wasnt meant to be. its just weird for me to think that this will be the first summer bridge in 5 years that i will not be an active participant of. i will most likely be visiting the program (especially if my cousin Antonio gets in).
i have 385 miles on my new car...its been fun driving it, and it is definitely honoring the memory of my civic si. lojack was installed in it today, if somebody plans on taking it like they took my last car, i will know about it ;)
exactly 2 weeks until i turn 23!!! *ahem*july 12*ahem* *hint**hint* gas cards, best buy cards, and aeropostale and american eagle stuffs would be greatly appreciated *wink**wink*

*crosses fingers*
i really hope i get this job that i applied for! was interviewed for the 2nd time today. it seems like a really cool place to work, and the pay and benefits are really nice! homecomings financial...i will be waiting for a call from you real soon! also looking forward to getting my new car to replace my recently stolen honda civic...i hope to get it sometime this week...that is if insurance comes through with their check. wanna do some math? ok here it goes...the value of my car comes out to be $14750 (not bad, i paid $16700 4 1/2 years ago)...the deductable is $250, bringing the total to $14500...i owed $1175..so the total amount of money i'm getting from this is $13325. not bad. if i had sold my car, i'd be lucky if i could get $11000. it pays to get your car stolen, but i wouldnt recommend it...too many headaches, and stress...add to that the other stuff (like pikachu, my mp3 cd player, and cds) getting stolen sucking up the wazoo! but the car that i'm gonna get to replace my 2000 civic si (the best civic ever made) will definitely honor the memory of my beloved automobile. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =)

Happy graduation to me...someone stole my car! went to noel's grad party last night, and when i got back, it was gone! this morning, the police department found it stripped down to the frame in downtown san diego on juniper street. it was a professional operation. i really loved that car, it was the first car that i ever bought on my own. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =(

major case of senioritis is in effect
and that means i have not done anything that involves studying, reviewing, reading, or academic-ing since class ended on friday. had my first final today in sign language...not too bad, but whatever cuz it's p/np...next up is tep 109, my teaching pe class, which apparently will be a 2 hour long test. eh...whatever, i'm so through with school! what's next...work. i had an interview with geico yesterday, and will have another with homecomings financial (same place where Mikey works) this coming friday right before p-grad. i make my final appearance @ ucsd this saturday @ 830am on RIMAC field. look out real world, jeff green is on his way, and he's taking no prisoners! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

graduating is so fricken expensive!
i have spent so much money on this process. $20 for apsa grad banquet, $100 for pictures, $70 for announcements, $60 for cap and gown (with an extra tassel and a ucsd stole), $20 for KP p-grad among other things. but i figure what the hell...i'll only graduate from college once right?
so i havent updated this thing in a while cuz i have been busy with the graduation hoopla. this week is my final week of instruction ever @ ucsd, and as i write this, there are only 9 days left until i step onto rimac field to bid my final adieu to this university. the fact that i'm graduating did not hit me until i participated in APSA's grad banquet this past saturday. before then, i was just whatever about graduating, but when the ceremony was going on, i was suddenly hit with a rush of memories and the realization that my time here is just about over. when the graduates were each called up, i had to pause a bit to take a deep breath before they put the sash around my shoulders. that moment was too surreal for me...after participating in so many grad banquets in the past, i couldnt believe that that moment was my own. grad banquet was great...i had a lot of fun, and jill was a great date! but the night cannot be explained in words.
in addition to ending my time in apsa, i also ended my time with the summer bridge program after being a part of it in some way or another since 1999. i found out that i was not hired to be senior staff for summer bridge 2004, so i finished up my duties. i had my final one-on-ones with my students from intersuite 450, and cleaned out my office. it's weird that i have untethered myself from my 2 main anchors here at ucsd, to find my way elsewhere.
today was the ethnic studies reception, and i was presented with a graduation stole from the department. who woulda thought that i would be honored by the ethnic studies department 5 years ago when i hated the ethnic studies classes i was taking? another surreal moment.
next week is KP's p-grad...more last minute memories and reminisces amongst friends...and then i'm out.
so what will you be doing on saturday june 12, 2004? i know what i will be doing. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =S
i have spent so much money on this process. $20 for apsa grad banquet, $100 for pictures, $70 for announcements, $60 for cap and gown (with an extra tassel and a ucsd stole), $20 for KP p-grad among other things. but i figure what the hell...i'll only graduate from college once right?
so i havent updated this thing in a while cuz i have been busy with the graduation hoopla. this week is my final week of instruction ever @ ucsd, and as i write this, there are only 9 days left until i step onto rimac field to bid my final adieu to this university. the fact that i'm graduating did not hit me until i participated in APSA's grad banquet this past saturday. before then, i was just whatever about graduating, but when the ceremony was going on, i was suddenly hit with a rush of memories and the realization that my time here is just about over. when the graduates were each called up, i had to pause a bit to take a deep breath before they put the sash around my shoulders. that moment was too surreal for me...after participating in so many grad banquets in the past, i couldnt believe that that moment was my own. grad banquet was great...i had a lot of fun, and jill was a great date! but the night cannot be explained in words.
in addition to ending my time in apsa, i also ended my time with the summer bridge program after being a part of it in some way or another since 1999. i found out that i was not hired to be senior staff for summer bridge 2004, so i finished up my duties. i had my final one-on-ones with my students from intersuite 450, and cleaned out my office. it's weird that i have untethered myself from my 2 main anchors here at ucsd, to find my way elsewhere.
today was the ethnic studies reception, and i was presented with a graduation stole from the department. who woulda thought that i would be honored by the ethnic studies department 5 years ago when i hated the ethnic studies classes i was taking? another surreal moment.
next week is KP's p-grad...more last minute memories and reminisces amongst friends...and then i'm out.
so what will you be doing on saturday june 12, 2004? i know what i will be doing. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =S

lazy bum
that's me! i skipped my 10am sign class this morning, and just slept in. it doesnt really matter that i ditched since there was a sub anyways. we had a sub on fri in that same class, and it was just a big waste of time. i had wanted to be somewhat productive today, but instead i just sat around on my lazy ass and watched tv and played video games. oh well...i'm a graduating senior, i have that right and that privilege. =p
congrats to my best friend Chie for graduating from SDSU this past weekend, as well as a lot of other people who did the same. i'm next! less than a month, and i will be a certified unemployed college graduate. as for tonight, it's going to be my last board meeting for apsa. so bittersweet, but it's time to pass the reigns on to the youngins. damn...im getting old! stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p

pcc is over
meaning that i will prolly never perform on a stage again, unless u count grad banquet which is coming up in 2 weeks. it just reminds me that this stage of my life, the college part, is just about over. the saturday show was better and shorter than the friday show. it would have been better if my parents didnt get into a big fight over something stupid right after the show...it was really embarassing...but whatever, it's over. i just hope that next month when i graduate, the same thing wont happen again.
oh well...it's monday afternoon, and i'm done w/ class. im just gonna chill a bit before i head off to quite possibly my last apsa board meeting. the new officers were elected last week, and they have to do appointments...so im thinking that tonight will be a transition meeting. such bittersweetness. stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =(dunno how to feel right now)

random =)ing
so for tep 109 (my teaching PE class) we have to go to an elementary school to observe a classroom teacher instructing PE. this past monday i went back to my old elementary school, Hickman Elemantary School here in Mira Mesa to talk to my 3rd grade teacher, Miss Fuhrman, about setting something up so i can observe. she was glad to see me...it had been 14 years since i was last a student in her class. so when i get there, her students were in an assembly so she and i sat and talked for about 15 minutes to catch up on life's randomness. we then went to pick up her class. thats when it started...her kids started asking me all sorts of questions. my original intention of staying for a few minutes to catch up w/ miss fuhrman and schedule an observation visit turned into an hourlong Q&A session.
so today Ian and i went back to do our observation. and as we were walking to the room...we heard a few voices saying "hi mr. green!" and "he's back! he's back! mr. green came back!" now...this was @ 8am in the morning, and for those of you who know me know that i am definitely not a morning person, and it takes a lot to get a smile out of me at that god-awful hour of the morning in which i refuse to be awake for anything. but those kids remembering me and being excited at seeing me put a big smile on my face (yes...at 8AM in the fricken morning!) stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =D

random gripe
so i was having a conversation tonight w/ a friend about the padres vs. giants game that she went to after i had read her online journal. since i'm a padres fan, i just happened to say "boo to the giants." thats when she got mad by saying that she doesnt wanna hear it, she heard enough of it at the game by the other fans, and that since the game was over i shouldnt talk about it anymore. i was basically expressing my opinion about the giants, like anybody would who does not like another team. she took this to be an attack on her and got pissed. ok, for one, this was not an attack on her...at no point did i say "you suck cuz you like the giants" or something like that...i was saying that i do not like a certain team, in a conversation in which 2 friend who like 2 different teams would have. ok...yes the game was over, but its not like i was talking about this game 6 months from now when there is no baseball...or just brought it out of the blue. she promptly signed off after she felt like i was attacking her. am i out of line for expressing my opinion about a baseball team during a convo about baseball? i think not...but i could be wrong. what do u think? stay tuned...we'll be back after these messages =p
